The Track List And New Music Video Are Also Revealed | Stryper’s New Album Is Called “Throne of Thorns”
Today, legendary Christian Metal pioneers Stryper return with a commanding new chapter in their storied career, their 18th studio album: “Throne Of Thorns”, set for release on September 25th via Frontiers Music Srl. Decades into their journey, Stryper continue to reaffirm their status as one of the most influential and enduring bands in Classic Metal, seamlessly blending their signature message with a sound that remains as powerful and relevant as ever.
That was the announcement that kicked off the promotion for Stryper’s highly anticipated new album, the follow-up to “The Greatest Gift Of All,” released in late 2025—but more specifically, the natural continuation of “When We Were Kings,” the album whose tour last brought them to Latin America and several other places. Now it’s time for “Throne of Thorns,” an album billed—as always—as the best album Stryper could have made. Will that really be the case?

Well, in that regard, Robert Sweet (Stryper’s drummer) said that: “Soon our new Stryper record will be out, and can you believe it? It’s album number 18! I really believe you’re all going to love it. Michael worked incredibly hard writing these songs and bringing everything together. Oz, Perry, and I also worked hard to make this, what I feel is our best record yet. I’m confident that once you hear it, you’ll agree. Thank you all for your incredible loyalty and for continuing to support what we do.”
In this case, “Throne Of Thorns” is a track with plenty of guitar riffs and an intense, heavy rhythm, along with Stryper’s now-characteristic melodic choruses—though not as overloaded as in the past—returning, in a way, to being more “Stryper,” so to speak. The rest of the album? For now, we’re sitting on the information. All we can say is that the album marks a return to a sound much more rooted in heavier riffs and a structure anchored in the guitars—and that, in and of itself, is more than good news. We’ll revisit “Throne of Thorns” once the physical copy arrives, likely with a much more in-depth review.

Actually, it seems to flow much better than “When We Were Kings,” and in a way, what Stryper showed us on “The Greatest Gift Of All” was a preview of what’s to come with this new album. In fact, in the interview we had with Michal Sweet a short while ago, he himself gave us a sneak peek at this new album, saying that “It’s definitely got its own signature and sound. You will notice that it is 100% Stryper, but at the same time it’s got a little different feel and vibe to it, more so in the grooves and the riffs. But we’re very pleased with how it turned out and I think fans are going to love it.”

Regarding the album’s title track, Michael Sweet commented: “Throne of Thorns” is a powerful message. Christ is on the throne, and we are redeemed because of the crown of thorns that He endured. This song is a perfect representation of our 43 years and who we were, and who we are. Heavy yet melodic, classic yet modern, and 100% Stryper!”
That’s not all—when it comes to the album itself, both Perry Richardson and the beloved Oz Fox have something to say. “The best music doesn’t come from comfort. It comes from living, struggling, growing, and refusing to quit. I hope these songs find you exactly when you need them”, said Stryper’s blond bassist, and the band’s longtime guitarist also commented that “I’m really happy with the final outcome of this record and of the heart that went into it. Michael continues to pour everything he has into the music and the message; Robert brings the power and energy that has always been the pulse of Stryper; Perry’s musicianship, vocal talents, and dedication are second to none, and I’m grateful to be on this journey with all of them.”

Finally, it’s worth noting that Stryper, along with the official announcements of the new album and the new music video, has officially announced the tour they’ll be embarking on across the United States, wrapping up the tour (as is their custom) in Puerto Rico in December. Will 2027 be Latin America’s turn? It’s quite possible.
