Ignis: Inframundo | Fire and Metal
(2024 – Metal Command Records)
When it comes to traditional Heavy Metal, we firmly believe that Argentina is a great producer of new projects rooted in Heavy Metal, and Ignis is no exception. In this case, “Inframundo” is their second album, released in 2024, which confirms that Ignis is the real deal.
“Inframundo” contains only nine songs, but among them we can find real gems for those who like traditional Metal, sprinkled with interesting melodies that remind us of the early days of Rata Blanca or even Kamikaze, and if we dig a little deeper, we can even notice some influences from 70s hard rock (Rainbow, for example). Throughout the album, the band maintains a simple and solid foundation in a classic formation with a sound that keeps its roots in Metal.

This is how, with the first track, “Renaceré,” it becomes clear where Ignis is coming from, with explosive power in one of those songs that makes you raise your fist in the air and with a truly thrilling chorus. Next comes “Despertar,” a well-known song by the band that has been re-recorded for the occasion, surely to maintain a logical and consistent sound with the rest of the album. “Peleando Para Ganar” starts with a hypnotic riff in a song that borders on hard rock but remains in the vein of melodic Heavy Metal that Ignis embodies in its music.
“Arden En El Cielo” is not a Logos classic, but rather an Ignis song and one of the best on this album. With a solid foundation and a warrior-like melody, Ignis shows everything it has to give and more. In the case of “Incubus,” we are talking about a dark and melancholic ballad that contrasts with the rest of the album, demonstrating the band’s versatility.
In “El Fuego Y Su Poder,” Ignis shows its most epic and neoclassical side, while “Abandonado” leans more toward the band’s hard rock side, with a strong and catchy riff. “Revolución,” on the other hand, is a song rooted in Heavy Metal in the style of Saxon or early Iron Maiden, with lyrics that clearly relate to the current times.
For the end of the album, Ignis decided to include a new version of their classic “El Metal En Mi Corazón,” a song that only those who love Heavy Metal will understand and sing along to. It is a true declaration of feelings from the old days of Metal.
It is more than clear that with “Inframundo,” Ignis plants its flag in the genre of traditional and melodic Heavy Metal, with a strong imprint and influence from the classic bands of the genre. They do not strive to sound “modern” or have an updated sound, but quite the opposite. The band rescues and maintains an immortal legacy, and that is what stands out most from a more than impeccable work.
Another thing that clearly stands out about “Inframundo” is the songs it includes. The composition and construction of each track results in pieces that are never boring and that also maintain a logic between them that makes listening to this album enjoyable. In that sense, the production carried out by the band itself stands out as very good and correct.

The artwork is appropriate, with a cover related to metal that conveys the concept of the album, and it really stands out, as does the design of the inner sleeve, which follows the same logic. It also includes a photograph of the band, technical information about the album, and the lyrics of the songs, which deal with personal and social issues and even Heavy Metal, all in a positive and optimistic tone. Thumbs up, especially considering that “Inframundo” is an independent production, with all the effort that entails. This physical CD edition is also a classic version, just the way we like it, so as always, we recommend getting this album in that format.
Can Ignis go further? It is clear that the band has what it takes to go much further. It has the sound, the songs, and a style that marks its territory in the classic sound of traditional metal. What the future holds is obviously up to the band itself, but they have what it takes…that much is clear from this album…
So you can judge for yourselves, we’ve included two lyric videos published by the band themselves for the songs “Renaceré” and “Revolución.” We’ve also included the links to find Ignis on social media, follow them, and stay up to date with the band’s news…
