As we mentioned some time ago, Lázaro, the Hybrid Metal band that has been fighting since the 1990s, is returning to the stage. This time, they will be sharing the stage with Miguel Roldan, Barni, Oíd Mortales, and DBM. The show will take place on December 20 at the Marquee in Buenos Aires. What a great way to end 2025!
Naturally, upon hearing the news, we contacted our dear friend Hernán Parafioriti, guitarist and vocalist for Lázaro, who told us how this opportunity for Lázaro to perform live again came about (keep in mind that the band has not been on stage for approximately eight years). “It was a very kind invitation from Alejandro Galiano, who works with many bands and even Miguel Roldan, I believe. He had invited us a few times, but for one reason or another, we couldn’t do it, mainly because of distance, since Guido Fischer (Lázaro’s drummer) lives in Misiones. It’s 1,060 kilometers. We agreed this time and we are going to set aside this time in December to get together and play. It’s been many years without Lázaro playing live, so we are very happy and very excited. The live show makes us feel very comfortable and very good. The interaction with the audience is always very good. We hope for the best, to have a good time, to convey a good message, and to enjoy ourselves. We are living in times in Argentina where it is a little difficult to enjoy ourselves. Let’s get together to enjoy good music and the message of Jesus.”

The date of December 20 will therefore be a good opportunity to see Lázaro play live again, and also for those who have never seen them perform on stage. Regarding the songs that could be played that night, Hernán told us that “The set list will be 80/20. There will be 80 percent classic songs that we usually play at shows and the remaining 20 percent will be new songs, from the 2020 EP and those we’ve been posting on social media in recent years. So there are classics from the band that can’t be left out, and we’re going to incorporate new songs. The ratio will be 80/20.”
In that sense, Lázaro’s voice also assures us that “It’s a good idea to make this show the kickoff for other shows that follow. That’s our wish too. So maybe it’s all a matter of getting started, and it could be a good start for new dates to come up so we can have a year organized with certain possible dates that the four of us can do and have a good time, enjoy ourselves, keep making new songs, and be able to share our music live with people, since people follow us on social media or in person, but live shows are the interaction we have with people right there, up close.”

We also didn’t miss the opportunity to find out what Lázaro is up to in terms of the possibility of releasing a new album… “With regard to the new album, it’s still in the idea stage. We’re starting to write new songs. There are some from a while back, or from time immemorial, that we might be able to rescue. We’re trying to define the criteria to follow, and the idea is to be able to do current things, songs from now. It’s still just an idea. Soon we’re going to release a new song, which is a cover of a band that Lázaro wouldn’t normally cover. We already have some of that song recorded, and I’m going to record the vocals soon. Then it will be mixed and mastered. It will be released before the end of the year. The idea would be to release it in October.”
As for the cover that Lázaro will release, it will be a total surprise. Let’s remember that some time ago the band released two covers, one of “Diferentes Actitudes Juveniles” by BOD and “Que Todo Sea Para Bien” by NDI; in both cases, two emblematic songs of the early 90s hardcore movement called “Buenos Aires Hardcore” (or better known by its acronym BAHC), but that’s not all, I can assure you.

So, we’ll have to wait and see what it’s all about, and of course, the show in December 2025, which will mark Lázaro’s official return to the stage after so long. To get you in the mood, here’s something to listen to and, of course, how to find these good folks on social media, where they usually post their news (in addition to this humble webzine, heh!)…
