And finally, the great Ozzy Osbourne has left us, leaving behind an enormous legacy, the history and very genesis of Heavy Metal, a thousand memories, and a thousand songs that will live on in our memories. He said goodbye just a few days ago, like a true great, and received the tribute that music owed him during his lifetime, alongside his bandmates from Black Sabbath, who made such a noise in the 1970s and who, even without him, continued to fight their own battle. There were only five songs, but they were full of emotion and nostalgia. The curtain finally closed.
There is no point in discussing the reasons why. The media will surely take care of spreading his reputation as an eccentric, a drug addict, his nickname “Prince of Darkness,” and the pathetic reality show he once did, etc., instead of reviving his musical wonders. They have already done so with so many others, so it is to be expected that they will do the same with him. Besides, what does it matter? It is clear that if anyone has the power to judge, it is not a human being.
What does matter, and what saddens us, is that Ozzy is no longer with us. He said goodbye to everyone like a great man and finally left, quietly. But from now on, his voice becomes immortal, his legacy becomes timeless, and every time we talk about heavy metal, we will know deep down that we are talking about the Great Ozzy Osbourne… This is our small tribute to a great man, perhaps the greatest in metal, one of those who gave life to the genre and who, until the very end, never stopped being Metal…
Here’s one of Ozzy’s songs with Black Sabbath that had the biggest impact on me as a kid, and still does today…
