Available Starting In June | We Listen To “Siendo Libre,” Ícaro’s New Album
As we’ve been announcing, Ícaro has everything ready for what will be their third album, and also the final album of their career. “Siendo Libre” will finally be released and published in June of this year, when it will be available to listen to both on digital platforms and in physical format, officially.
Thanks to the kindness of the band and Horacio Heredia—friend, brother, and the band’s guitarist—we were able to get an early listen to the album before its release, so we can start sharing what “Siendo Libre” is all about.
With a mix of different sensations and feelings, Ícaro is traversing its final stage in terms of its discography, and through the various tracks included, the farewell takes shape through nostalgia, pride, memories, stories, and more—but above all, it holds high the banner of Heavy Metal, with that invincible and indomitable spirit that has always characterized Ícaro. Because if there’s one thing Ícaro never gave up, it’s his essence forged in Metal, through and through.

For “Siendo Libre,” Ícaro brought together several musicians and vocalists, including the lineup that brought the album to life with no less than three singers: the well-known Eduardo “Turu” Paredes, Lucas Sotelo, and Alejandra Tacla, joining Pepe Guagliarello on guitar, Ezequiel Molina ‘Eter’ on keyboards, “Bernie” Saldivia on bass, Pablo Stec, and of course Horacio Heredia on guitar.
But there is also an incredible lineup of guest musicians, including Martin Knye (Kamikaze), Mario Ian, Emiliano Obregón, Ariel Gomez, Mauro Young, Martin Gonzalez, Gustavo Retamozo, Facundo Maglione, Judith Enriquez, Andy Luna, and Magui Garcia Solla.
Among the 12 tracks on “Siendo Libre,” we’ll find the title track—for which Ícaro released a preview last year along with a music video—as well as a cover of the classic “Heavy Metal” featuring Mario Ian on vocals, a song that undoubtedly resonates with all of us who consider ourselves part of the Metal scene, and a new version of another Ícaro gem, “Luchando Por Sobrevivir,” which finds its place on this album. In both cases, these tracks serve as a link to the band’s past, brought to the forefront in their latest album with a blend of nostalgia and a tribute to the band’s history.

The intro and instrumental “El Poder De La Luz” is the first track on “Siendo Libre,” which leads into “Para Bien o Para Mal,” a song that is finally being officially released and has by now become another unmissable classic in their live performances. The same goes for “Guardianes Del Metal,” a track recorded with Ariel Gomez on vocals—undoubtedly a true gem not to be missed.
The variety of guest musicians and vocalists on the album gives “Siendo Libre” a certain versatility, allowing us to discover different facets of Ícaro’s sound and style, while always remaining true to their roots in traditional Heavy Metal. For example, “Despierta Argentina” is a kind of epic ballad, full of momentum and fury, featuring Emiliano Obregón of Lorihen on the guitar solo, but “Castillos De Arena” is no slouch either, with Judith Enriquez’s distinctive vocals lending it a unique sparkle and a vibe more rooted in classic metal—perhaps one of the album’s most impressive moments.
There’s also time for an instrumental. That’s what “Gracias” is all about—a kind of melodic march with a truly emotional charge that genuinely moves you to tears.

“Somos Y Seremos” follows the line of more traditional Heavy Metal, at a moderate pace and with just the right melodies and harmonies, making it stand out as another classic this album will leave behind, just like “Corre En Mis Venas,” a powerful statement of principles about what heavy metal means and which, as is the case with almost the entire album, showcases that polished blend of the fury of the rhythm section and riffs with the melodies provided by the guitar solos, resulting in a warrior-like, in-your-face Metal vibe.
The final track is the acoustic version of “Para Bien O Para Mal,” sung in this case by Alejandra Tacla, who also handles the acoustic guitar, giving a different feel to one of the best songs Ícaro has ever produced.
Unlike Ícaro’s previous albums, “Siendo Libre” feels different. This stems from its conception, the production, and the idea of incorporating different musicians and vocalists into the album, with each of them making their own contribution to every song on the record, while keeping the focus centered on traditional Metal.
In that sense, musically speaking, Ícaro remains true to its own essence, forged over the years, with songs that feel powerful and moving. Different sensations, different feelings, and a story in each of the songs on “Siendo Libre”; that is the result that, in our opinion, stands out the most. It is undoubtedly an ambitious project, one that came at a cost and required a lot of hard work behind the scenes, but the result is truly worth it.

That is why we believe one of the things to highlight is that it seems as though every song on this album is not just filler; they are the product of composition and production work spanning several years. Each one has a story to tell, a sound that characterizes and distinguishes them from one another, and a unique personality, stemming precisely from the originality Ícaro has always displayed in his style, centered as always on Heavy Metal, no more and no less.
Horacio Heredia has already explained his reasons on several occasions, including to this publication, but even so, we’re not the only ones who think Ícaro still has a lot to offer. The reality is that “Siendo Libre” is the crowning achievement of a long journey, and now comes the time for a tour during which Ícaro will take the opportunity to present the new album—a tour that will also serve as a farewell, definitively marking the band’s history. The tour will visit various locations across the country, including Buenos Aires.

Meanwhile, “Siendo Libre” will be officially released in June, both on digital platforms and on CD, and as Horacio Heredia told us, there are plans to also release this material on cassette and vinyl through the Metal Command label, so keep an eye out for its release in those formats.
