We must never forget the living legends, nor underestimate the greats of Hard Rock and Metal. These are people who often have tricks up their sleeves and know things that many others lack. One such example is Peter Carlsohn, a guy with an interesting history behind him. We’re talking about the former bassist of the legendary Swedish band Jerusalem, with whom he released the album “Warrior” in 1981, becoming the first Swedish hard rock band to make a strong impact on MTV, thanks to that album, which also has the distinction of being recognized as one of the 100 most important albums in Christian rock.

In addition, Peter has toured with Rune Edvardsen & Red Band and Carola, major Scandinavian artists, as well as having served as bassist for the band XT, before finally founding his own project: Peter Carlsohn’s The Rise.
With this project in hand—in which he not only plays bass but also sings and serves as the primary songwriter and producer—Peter has just released a new album. We’re specifically talking about “Raising The Roof,” an album featuring 10 new tracks that we’ll describe below and which is available starting today.
Anchored By Peter Carlsohn´unmistikable bass and emotive lead vocals, the album blends classic rock roots with a modern edge. Big hooks, gritty riffs and vintage Hammond organ create a sound that is both driving and uplifting balancing urgency with hope.

Peter Carlsohn’s The Rise walks a fine line between Melodic Hard Rock and AOR, with a sound rooted in a distinctly ’80s style, with a more than competent and polished production, because if there’s one thing that stands out on “Raising The Roof,” it’s the quality and the sheer professionalism evident throughout the album—a product of the bassist’s experience, which speaks to his years on the scene.
The album kicks off with the interesting and catchy riff of “It’s Your Time Now,” a track that wouldn’t sound out of place on any ’80s FM radio station. Nor would “Glorious Life,” which, with a certain pop touch and a slight filter more typical of the ’90s, sets itself apart. For something a bit more rock-oriented, we have “Fight The Fear,” and why not some blues with “Raising The Roof,” one of those tracks to enjoy while driving down a lonely, scenic road.
“Angel Eye” is a kind of catchy ballad with a certain ’70s vibe, and it’s also the album’s lead single; in the same vein, we find “Living My Life,” at almost the same tempo but setting a steady pace with a strong, catchy chorus.
With a sound much more rooted in melodic rock and a noticeably faster pace, we have “Wild Thing,” followed by “Red Alert,” which brings us back with a much more bluesy and rock-driven riff, marking one of the album’s perhaps most exciting moments.
Perhaps the standout is “Surrender,” a track that breaks from the album’s usual mold but is no less brilliant. Its guitar riffs give it a distinct feel. The album concludes with “Wonderchild,” a ballad featuring a rhythm and tempo characteristic of the entire work, yet with a different atmosphere, thus rounding out an excellent album in every sense.

The superb sound production provides a bulletproof shield for “Raising The Floor,” an album that may not strictly fall into the Metal category, but its proximity to Hard Rock and AOR, coupled with a collection of well-executed songs and varied moods, makes it well worth a listen.
Indeed, one of the greatest strengths of Peter Carlsohn’s The Rise lies in its varied composition, offering songs of different styles, yet always adhering to a compositional approach that reduces everything to a simple, understated foundation, with bass lines and guitar riffs that complement each other. The virtuosity and good musical taste are evident, and anyone who appreciates material that makes quality its highest priority should definitely check this out.
By the way, the album was produced by Peter Carlsohn himself, mixed by Tobias Lindell, and mastered by the well-known Thomas “Plec” Johansson. With that in mind, I can attest to how well and beautifully this album sounds.
“Raising The Floor” is now available, starting today, on both digital platforms and in physical format, and of course, we’ve included the debut single and the links below so you can find and follow this project closely….
