The Matrix Has You

The latest Matrix movie was really bad—a far cry from the trilogy we all know. From Brazil, Krig invites us to delve back into the Matrix universe, but from a different conceptual angle, drawing parallels between many of the famous film’s concepts and the reality that technology, AI, and algorithms present and challenge us with, questioning our position as human beings and thinkers in the face of this overwhelming and consuming technological mess.
In that sense, “Bite My Byte” feels more like a conceptual work, with a single overarching theme that fits within the framework described above. The Matrix has us trapped, and Krig takes us on a journey to remind us just how dependent we’ve become on technology.

Indeed, for Krig, “it’s a concept album about control, dependence, and how technological systems shape our thoughts, our behavior, and our identity. Turn up the volume and question everything”, that’s the sound advice they give us.
Musically, we’re in for a totally devastating album, with a sound that ranges from Industrial Metal, through the precision and intensity of Fear Factory, to the distinctive style of Extol, all while maintaining their brutal, Death Metal-inspired sound. Computerized, mechanized, and technical sounds flood the album, serving as a distinctive detail that frames the concept and the signature Krig has given this work, with an idea that goes beyond its obvious influences. Originality is Krig’s trademark, and to tell the truth, they’ve done it with great taste as well.
Indeed, the 12 tracks that make up “Bite My Byte” are a sort of demolition machine with that technological imprint. Titles like “#Hashtafdominatesyou” and “The 666 Algorithm” are a good example of this. However, “Automated Retarded” seems to return to a style more typical of the Death Metal genre, as does “Big Tech CEO Bought Your Soul,” but “404 Not Found” is true musical insanity; strange in its composition and style, with an unrelenting drive and truly interesting passages.

Meanwhile, “Cloud Brain” is another strange piece featuring multiple guitar riffs over a firm, compact foundation, with blast beats at full throttle. The vibe on “Superficial Intelligence” leans more toward the typical riffs of Thrash Metal and also features Marcâo Werneck as a special guest on this technological crusade, in a completely instrumental track.
“Censorship Algorithm” comes across as dark, intriguing, yet also crushing, and we can’t fail to mention “Oriented Object,” one of the standout tracks on “Bite My Byte”—a true madness where Death Metal intertwines with industrial, hardcore, and even Thrash Metal elements. And as if that weren’t enough, “Foolish Evildoers XII” isn’t just a fitting finale. It’s also another gratuitous, instrumental demonstration of the unique style with which Krig has fortified this great work.
The cover art is no accident. It follows the logic of this work. “Bite My Byte” is a concept album about power, dependency, and the systems that condition people to accept control as part of their daily lives. At its core: a dog staring intently at the fridge, passive, waiting for a reward, a command, permission.

Throughout the album, Krig draws a parallel between that obedience and the way major tech platforms shape thought, behavior, and identity. Data mining, algorithms, credit scores, invisible metrics… all of this forms the soundtrack to a world in which humanity is constantly measured, classified, and directed by systems it no longer controls. This is more than just an album about machines. It’s about what happens when people start living according to their logic.
“Bite My Byte” is a bold move by Krig. Its message, concept, and idea align with the music—intense, dark, and powerful. It looks set to be one of the best releases of 2026, and if you don’t believe us, check out some of the singles Krig has released as previews of this album—which we’ve kindly included below.
