It’s rare to find material rooted in a conceptual narrative within the Metalcore scene, but Tyraels Ascension shatters that myth with a project in which the tale of the angel Tyrael serves as the overarching framework for the entire story.
Tyraels Ascension chooses an unconventional story that may not be biblical, but rather a tale of imagination and literary flair, yet rich in spiritual and symbolic content. This, combined with a genre that doesn’t typically engage with conceptual narratives, lends the project an air of originality.
The first album was “Hell Walker” in 2024; It was the beginning of a trilogy, with real life struggles translated into the tale of an angel, Tyrael, who descends to a broken earth to help its desperate people in a fight against the demons who threaten their very existence. Lyrically and conceptually immersive and musically dazzling, the album was very well received throughout the international metal underground, garnering excellent reviews. The Hell Walker story was even made into a video game, featuring the music of Tyraels Ascension, which was made available on Nintendo’s hugely popular Switch platform.

The release of the second part of this story is scheduled for this year, specifically July 2026. Titled “Grave Seeker,” the second chapter of this story is set to be released.
Bowed but never broken, the battle-weary angel stands in the darkness, bathed in the silver light of a hunter’s moon. He has given everything for the people of this ravaged earth, fighting for their redemption against an endless tide of demonic wickedness, his sword against an onslaught of tooth, claw, fire and damnation. Risking his heart and soul against the blood hungry cruelty and insidious machinations of the enemy he has been the last hope of a beleaguered world for so long…but still the battle rages on.
Thus, we have the presentation of the official release of “Grave Seeker,” an album we had access to prior to its official release to tell you what it’s all about.
On this new release, Tyraels Ascension continues the direction of their first album, deepening their focus on Metalcore with 12 new tracks logically based on the story of the angel Tyrael. Musically, there are traces of melodic Thrash Metal and a musical approach that sets the band apart from mainstream Metalcore, bringing them closer to a more progressive and technical sound. It’s what they call Incendiary Metal, as the band defines it, setting them apart from the context in which they’re usually labeled.
From the first track, “No End In Sight,” we can sense this tendency to go beyond the Metalcore label, beyond the typical “breakdowns” and that mix of clean and growling vocals. The guitar work and riffs are sharp and agile, with rich guitar arrangements and truly interesting, climactic instrumental passages.
With “Darkened Soul,” we encounter something more raw and heavy, so to speak, before moving on to the radio-friendly track “Bittersweet,” which moves at a moderate pace, blending the densest elements of metalcore with typical hardcore elements.
One of the album’s standout features is the variety of musical moments it captures and the way it tells the story—in a genre that generally doesn’t allow for much versatility—and this is precisely Tyraels Ascension’s greatest strength. We really liked “Fire From The Sky,” with guitar strumming that accompanies almost the entire song, and a guitar solo!!! This clearly speaks to Tyraels Ascension’s distinctiveness within the metalcore scene.
“The Serpent’s Demise” kicks off with an intricate string arrangement, concealing tremendous strength and power behind it, while “The Summoning” is a rare example of when metalcore meets melodies that are foreign to it, despite the incessant “rapping” in between. Fortunately, “Search For The Cure” takes a different path, much “heavier” if I may use the term; its fast riffs and strumming, coupled with another impressive guitar solo, give it a distinct feel within Tyraels Ascension’s style.
Unlike the rest, “Ethereal” seems to lean much more toward thrash/death metal, and stands out as one of the best reasons to check out this album. Its instrumental section is undoubtedly one of the band’s finest moments. Meanwhile, “Impossible Decisions” takes us down a different path, one that elevates the band’s sound toward a much more melodic direction without necessarily becoming a ballad—quite the opposite. Its atmospheric vibe and riffs suggest otherwise, but it’s undoubtedly another standout track on “Grave Seeker.”
“Fragmented Pieces” doesn’t surprise much in terms of its sound and approach. At a moderate pace and with extremely heavy riffs, it sets the stage for “Tears,” which has a somewhat epic tone—at least initially—but with the sound of that blend of metalcore and thrash in a progressive key, so to speak. Finally, the sublime instrumental “Tyrael’s Curse” tells us that everything comes to an end in this life, at least for now. The story promises to continue, but the important thing is that we still have “Grave Seeker” to enjoy.

On this new album, Tyraels Ascension demonstrates that their take on metalcore has evolved in a positive way, adding a different flavor to their style, with many elements that may seem out of place for the genre but which they manage to capture in an undeniably sublime way. Their music may transcend labels, and there may well be someone outside the scene who could give them a listen. Their compositions are far from conventional, and the guitar work really sounds great; and of course, we applaud the inclusion of several guitar solos, which makes “Grave Seeker” an album worth keeping an eye on.
Adorned with a cover that fits perfectly with the darker, more melancholic atmosphere of Tyraels Ascension’s second album, “Grave Seeker” will be released by Rottweiler Records on July 24, 2026. Tyraels Ascension has once again opened the doors to a metal paradise you’ll never want to leave, as announced.
