The guys from Demon Hunter, one of the most renowned Christian metalcore bands, have officially announced the release of their new album, titled “There Was A Light Here,” on September 12 of this year. This news was expected due to the multiple previews that the band presented on digital platforms in the form of music videos.

The preview tracks from this new album were “I’m Done,” “Light Bends,” and “Sorrow Light The Way,” which serve as a benchmark for the direction Demon Hunter is taking. Judging by these songs, we can expect a more relaxed album compared to previous works, especially their early ones. It is a mixture of metalcore and groove with clean vocals that are nothing like their first albums.
In any case, “There Was A Light Here” is a powerful tribute to love and loss, dedicated to the late mother of the band’s leader, Ryan Clark. It explores the theme of light, both in its presence and absence. So we can expect a work with a lot of depth in terms of lyrics.
“There Was A Light Here” will contain 12 tracks and is produced by Clark and guitarist Jeremiah Scott, mixed and mastered by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (who has worked with Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, and Suffocation), except for the title track, which was mixed by Eric Stenman (who has worked with Awolnation, Thrice, and Deftones), so we can expect a new album with a modern metalcore sound in keeping with the times.

One thing we found very interesting is that this new album will be released digitally, but also on CD, vinyl, and cassette! Good for Demon Hunter for not forgetting those of us who prefer physical formats to digital releases.
Demon Hunter will begin performing “There Was A Light Here” live in September of this year, coinciding with its release, and during October 2025, on a tour with War Of Ages, Convictions, and Cultist, logically throughout the US, in addition to confirming their participation in the “Louder Than Life” (in Louisville) and Aftershock (Sacramento) festivals.
To keep up with Demon Hunter’s latest news, we recommend following their social media accounts, as well as listening to the previews of “There Was A Light Here” that the band has been releasing.
