Problems and Attitudes…
Now in our fifth month online, we continue to grow as a webzine, adding content, followers, etc. It’s not easy, but here we are, standing tall and moving forward, as we should. Although we have a history, as we’ve already mentioned (and those who know us from the prehistoric days of the internet), that’s all in the past. For us, this is like starting from scratch, and that sometimes has its consequences. Among other things, people treat you badly, ignore you, refuse to let you do this, which, I should clarify, is not a job for us and we don’t even make any money from it. Quite the contrary. We do this at a loss, since everything you see is an investment from our own pockets. Some people understand this and others don’t. That’s clear, as is the fact that we know who we have a relationship with and who we won’t have a relationship with again. A word to the wise is enough.
We had planned to do double coverage of Stryper’s tour in Latin America, particularly the concerts in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, which also featured Bride and Narnia. Unfortunately, this was not possible. In the case of Buenos Aires, we did not get the “scoring” intended by the show’s producers to be able to be present (as if they had so many interactions on social media… anyway), and regarding the scheduled visit to Rio de Janeiro, although we were there, we had to return suddenly due to a serious family situation. We apologize to the people at En Hakkore Records, especially our friend Marllon Matos, who kindly did everything possible to get us there, to the bands, and of course to those who were waiting for our review of this tour, but in our own style.
All of this leads us to reflect on how difficult it is to carry out a project within the metal scene. Beyond this particular webzine, everything involving metal seems to be twice as difficult, whether it’s a media outlet, a production company, a label, or a band. Everything costs twice as much. Most of the time, things don’t go as planned, and other times, less often, they turn out perfectly. Not to mention the financial aspect. We know that we always work at a loss (the profit is elsewhere, not financial exactly). The question is the attitude with which we face problems. Sometimes we talk a lot about perseverance, about not giving up, about continuing to fight, etc., but sometimes the unease and feeling of failure are stronger. Leaving aside what concerns Metal, we can take this to the level of life itself, and there we find a similar situation and sometimes situations that are much more serious than what can happen with a personal project.
The solutions are neither magical nor miraculous. Although as Christians we believe in Christ, the reality is that most of the time, problems happen for a reason, and to teach us something. The point is not to crawl into a cave and hide, but to go out and face the problems, move forward and not give up, knowing that the one who accompanies us is greater than any difficulty that may arise. No matter what you are going through, God is greater than anything you may be experiencing, and that is what it is all about: getting back on your feet and continuing to fight.
No, we are not preaching or being religious. That is not our style, and there are surely others who do it much better than we do. It is just a little reflection because that is what life is all about: problems. The question is how to face them, not to shut yourself away, but to go out and fight. That’s what it’s all about.
For this month of August, as always, we will have new reviews. Many albums are waiting to be reviewed, with our opinion and in our style. Also, God willing, we will put new interviews online and everything related to Metal. We are not stopping, and we are moving forward, as we have set out to do from the beginning. As always, we thank everyone who collaborates with this medium, including bands, producers, labels, radio programs, and especially the audience that follows us, values what we do, and supports us. Thank you so much!!!! We’ll see you next month… in the meantime, let’s keep fighting and long live Heavy Metal!!!!!
