Through the Facedown Records label, the Metalcore band Confessions Of A Traitor has just released, specifically on May 16th, their long-awaited new album entitled “This Pain Will Serve You”. According to the press release, this new work of the band delves deep into the complex and raw emotions of grief and loss. Through haunting melodies and powerful lyrics, the band explores the universal experience of mourning and the journey toward healing. The album captures the lingering presence of memories that continue to shape our lives, while also reflecting on the beauty that can emerge from the depths of sorrow. It serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of those we’ve lost. This record is a heartfelt tribute to those who have experienced profound loss — to those who continue to grieve the ones they love. It stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, inviting listeners to find comfort and solidarity in faith, hope, and the shared experience of grief. We grow from trauma, we let it serve us.

Thanks to Facedown Records label, we got a digital edition of this recently released album, so we can make a partial review of “This Pain Will Serve You”, an album that promises a lot. The album contains 11 tracks with an excellent production and sound, in a melancholic, dark and dense variant of Metalcore, which is a relevant and distinguished point of the sound that Confessions Of A Traitor offers.
Confessions Of A Traitor craft a relentless blend of raw melodic emotion and punishing heaviness, delivered with a message. Fueled by haunting personal demons, faith, and resilience, their music is anthemic catharsis—dark, unrelenting, yet laced with hope. Their new album “This Pain Will Serve You” is a testament to struggle and survival, a record that turns suffering into strength and loss into something lasting. Their music isn’t just heard—it’s felt, a war cry for those fighting their own battles, according to the press release.

The first thing that jumps out is that each song that makes up “This Pain Will Serve You” is no longer than 4 minutes in length, making each track straightforward and to the point. “Starve” is the one chosen to open the fire. In between the pounding and pounding, Confessions Of A Traitor introduces us to their style, where they give a twist to Metalcore. While the band has all the characteristics that are repeated over and over again in the genre, what we find interesting are the passages mediated with synthesizers and keyboards, which sets the mood very well the feeling they want to transmit. “Doomsayer” and ‘Let It Consume Me’ is a good example of this. Over there is also the advance single of this album and that the band has been promoting for some time, “Still Haunted” (with the participation of Holy Name and Heal The Hurt), for which a video clip was released (below is the link to see it). “Love You Left Behind” could be the ‘ballad’ of the album and definitely one of the best tracks on the album. In “The Sins I’m Yet To Answer For” and “Half Life” you can hear the “heavier” side of Confessions Of A Traitor, rounding up a good work, which we think will bring a lot of satisfaction to the band.
A plus point is the impressive cover of this album. Not only is it eye-catching but it really captivates. About the rest of the edition, for the moment we can’t say anything, being what we have only a digital edition.
