Well, we have arrived safe and healthy to two months online, which seems a simple thing but for us, is a lot. Obviously we thank God first of all, who gives us strength every day to continue with this, the people who follow us, comment, opine and support this project, as well as the bands, labels and press agents that make it easier for us to continue with this project, which is not easy. In these times where it is easy to set up a page on social networks to only share / reproduce the same content that can already be read or seen on other sites, we wanted to do something else, something different. We wanted to add value to the issue, with interviews, reviews, news, etc, trying to have a real fanzine (well, webzine as it is called when it is on the “web”) that rescues what has been lost in these times of so much digitalization, emojis, AI and hollow and empty brains.
The cover of the editorial? Well, it’s a way to pay homage to those of us who love and defend the physical format, one of the icons that make Metal culture. Of course, we are cavemen and we are happy to be them. Anyway, and knowing that many Underground bands find it hard to publish physically, we are going to open a new section, of which we will have news soon. That doesn’t take away from the fact that even though digital is very useful for diffusion, the best in our opinion, is still the album in the hand.
Why do we defend so much the physical format? Well, maybe those who belong to the new generations can not understand it, but having a record, whether vinyl, cd or cassette, is part of a culture and our folk, which has to do with the search, research, share, treasure, etc.. But it also brings people closer to each other when the topic of conversation revolves around the records that we have had, that we have and those we dream of having. Then there is the sound. I am not an expert in sound but if there is one thing I am sure of, it is that a digital edition, no matter how well it is understood, can never match the physical edition. Of that we are sure. There is also the pleasure of being able to hear and listen to an album, with the order of songs proposed by the band or artist, having the lyrics at hand, the technical data, the cover art, etc. I remember spending hours and hours with a friend, mate in between (yes, we are Argentineans), looking for explanations to the album covers. It’s an inexplicable combo perhaps, but well, cavemen like us know what we mean.
The month of May will bring more news around here, so I suggest to stay tuned. April brought us a one-on-one interview with Michael Sweet from Stryper, who will be playing here in Latin America in July. Also a lot of interesting news, product of conversations we have had with some bands from whom we have been able to get some news, and yes, obviously, a few album reviews. For this month that starts, we are going to have, possibly, many more interviews, albums to comment, reviews of live concerts, etc. That’s what we are working on. Remember that all this is an independent project, which does not seek to be paid in money. We don’t live from this and it’s not made for profit. Our retribution, for us, goes somewhere else.
Happy Worker’s Day to all of you and !!!! May God continue to bless you, and don’t get rusty, life goes on….stay Heavy Metal!!!!!
