Every time I have the opportunity to talk to Hernán Parafioriti, voice of Lázaro, it is inevitable to remember that he was my first interviewee for a local FM, at my tender 18 years of age, way back in 1998 (you know how old I am). In short, nobody is interested in the anecdote. What does matter is that shortly, there will be news of Lázaro.
In retrospect, for those who don’t know them, Lazaro is a band that defines itself as “Hybrid Metal” and has released two albums to date (“No Más Vendas” in 1997 and “Crear O Reventar” in 1999) plus a live album (“Escenarios” in 2001), as well as several participations in compilation albums. After going through several periods, the band is still active although working and releasing new songs in single mode in digital format in the last few years. It seems that this is about to change.

In principle, Lázaro is preparing two new songs that will be released as singles on digital platforms. They are two covers of songs belonging to two famous bands of the “BAHC” scene (Buenos Aires Hardcore, that famous Argentine Hardcore scene that was born in the late ’80s with influence of the New York Scene of Hardcore). In the words of Hernán Parafioriti “We are preparing two covers, of two emblematic bands, in tribute to the Buenos Aires Hardcore, which was a movement that among other things inspired us a little to make the music we do, which has a bit of hardcore too. They are mixed and mastered and will soon be released on Spotify.”
Regarding the current lineup of the band, Hernan confirmed to us that Lazaro is still with the same members since a few years ago. Hernan Parafioriti on guitar and vocals, Pablo Parafioriti on guitar, Guido Fischer on drums and Javier Annikian on bass. Logically, the next question was if at some point we will be able to see Lázaro back on stage, Hernán told us that “We haven’t thought of anything live yet, our idea is always to be able to play live. We have to see if Guido can travel to Buenos Aires (remember that Guido Fischer does not live in Buenos Aires) to do some dates here. The idea is to keep the band active, for now with new songs. We are preparing our own material. There are several songs ready, with a project of some more songs, to see if we can make a whole album this year. Not to release single songs, but to release an album. That’s the idea we’ve been talking about, but there’s nothing ready yet”.

We had the opportunity to listen, as an exclusive preview, to the two enigmatic covers that Lázaro has just recorded and will soon release, as a tribute to Buenos Aires Hardcore. The only thing we can tell you is to wait for the official release. You will really be surprised, some may be angry (the usual bah) but we already know that Lazaro never follows the established standards. We for our part are glad that Lázaro is moving forward with new projects on the horizon.
