More on The Other Side than ever
Well, here we go again. And indeed we are back. After a hiatus of almost 19 years (how time passes eh), we are back online in the mysterious and nebulous internet networks, even if it sounds redundant. For those who don’t know us, let’s start at the beginning. Del Otro Lado is a project that was born back in 2001 as a radio program in the southern area of Buenos Aires, and eventually we were able to transmit to the whole world through the internet, first in deferred format and later, live and online. At the same time, we were able to inaugurate a Webzine, linked to the radio program, with news, novelties, album reviews, interviews, etc. All this worked until 2006, when, for different reasons, we had to put the project aside. The idea was always to give a place of diffusion to everything that had to do with the so-called White Metal, or Christian Metal, or whatever you want to call it, since this aspect never had the diffusion that we believed it deserves. In this version 3.0 as we like to call it, we are going to continue with the same idea, but expanding horizons. No, we are going to dedicate ourselves to other music styles, nobody be scared. In our spirit and heart, the Metal occupies a very important part, and for that reason, is that this space will be dedicated not only to promote bands and projects that have to do with the Christian faith, so to speak, but also with the Heavy Metal scene in general, particularly the Argentinean scene. At this point, division is not a possibility and we firmly believe that unity is strength. The nonsense of “I don’t listen to such and such a band because they are christians or because they are satanic”, does not suit us. Everyone has their beliefs, their faith, their principles and their values. Heavy Metal historically rescues this and above all opens heads. That’s what we are aiming at.
Having said that, it is also worth mentioning that we are not motivated by any profit motive, nor by the desire to appear in the media or to compete with other media that also contribute to the diffusion of Metal. Precisely, the name of this project has to do, among other things, with being in a different tune. Not better or worse, just in a different tune.
In this new version of this website you will find news, reviews of concerts, demos, albums (new and cult), interviews and everything we can think of to make it more enjoyable and interesting. Of course, and under our belief that Metal knows no borders, we are going to try with a mirror site in Spanish to widen the panorama, especially for those who don’t speak the English language. So, as long as time, occupations and so on allow us, we will work to make the contents bilingual.
We could have done something more “modern”, as it is demanded in these times. That is to say, streaming, videos in different social networks, polls of who is the best, and so on. The truth is that we are old, and we are not too interested in new communication formats. We prefer the written word and therefore, notwithstanding the grammatical errors that we may have, we appeal to people who still prefer the comfortable and simple reading of a written text, which is never a bad thing. We also clarify that every review published is about something real. Physical albums (don’t waste your time sending us digital material) and concerts that some of us who participate in this project will REALLY go to. No bullshit.
Important clarifications we would like to make. Any kind of material, whether press releases or announcements, can be sent to info@delotroladometal.com.ar. Also coordinate the sending of material (demos or something to listen to), which will be reviewed and published.
We also want to thank the people who are behind all this and who always give their support. Claudio “CJ” Peña in computer engineering, Eric “Core” Balbi in collaboration and ideas. Andrea Lauro, in logistical and photographic support. We will surely add more people in the future. This is a webzine only for diffusion, not for commerce since we don’t make money with this (on all the contrary!).
Thank you very much!
