Their Past And Present | Atrios Of God And A History With Metal
Every so often, we take a look around the scene, check out new material, and—beyond constantly keeping up with the latest releases, bands, albums, etc.—it doesn’t hurt to look back a bit and discover bands that carry a history on their shoulders; one such example is Atrios Of God.
In this case, Atrios Of God is an Argentine band with a story to tell and a journey through the Metal scene spanning several years that’s worth remembering—as well as finding out what the band is up to these days.
It’s no easy task to maintain and keep a project going—especially within the Metal scene. This is already well known to those who have firsthand experience with just how difficult and complicated it is to keep a band, a media outlet, a production company, and so on, going. No one gives you anything for free, and in everything, the investment is always at a loss—regardless of the rewards that come in forms other than monetary ones. Atrios Of God is one of the many examples we can find in our beloved underground metal scene. With a difficult, complicated, independent path and almost no support, the band has always managed somehow to move forward.

In fact, Atrios Of God got its start in 2008 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. If we stop to think about it, the band has been around for almost 19 years, and despite everything, it still seems to be going strong. With several battles under its belt, an album, an EP, and plenty of live performances, Atrios Of God has gradually become one of the leading names in White Metal here in Argentina in recent years.
Their sound was heavily influenced by traditional Heavy Metal, and their original lineup included Pablo Viviani, Gabriel Zárate, Ruth Godoy, Jon Ferreyra, and Víctor Ibarra. Their style was characterized by combining a message centered on faith and hope with heavy sounds and a female lead vocalist.
The band subsequently took a hiatus between 2015 and 2017, returning to the scene this past year with several changes, including the return and addition of guitarist Javier Diaz, as well as bassist Cristian Diaz. With a fresh start and a new lineup, Atrios Of God decided to evolve its original sound and explore other styles, so the band ventured into more modern influences, incorporating elements of Metalcore, Thrash, and even Power Metal, recording and releasing its only album to date, simply titled “Atrios Of God.”

The album was recorded at “Reales Estudios” between March 2017 and October 2018 and was officially released in November 2018. It features nine tracks that showcase deep roots in traditional Metal with certain progressive, modern, and melodic elements that make this album more than just interesting. Heavy riffs, plenty of pounding, groove, plus Ruth Godoy’s voice, which cuts through with fierce intensity. The combination of powerful tracks and melody makes this debut album by Atrios Of God a truly compelling release that, in a way, marks their first foray into the music scene.
The album in question would eventually become their calling card. With just nine tracks—among which we can highlight “Sueños De Libertad”, “Di Mi Nombre”, the intriguing “No Lo Destruyas” (for its blend of Ruth Godoy’s vocals and growls), and “Somos Presa” (for its complex composition)—this debut album neither begins nor ends there. There’s much more to discover.
Later, in 2023, the band released the EP “Mundos Internos”, featuring four new tracks that showcased the evolution of their distinctive style; ultimately, this would be the band’s final release, at least in terms of recorded music.
“Mundos Internos” revealed a different side of the band, with an updated sound and a much more concrete approach to modern metal, featuring strong, heavy riffs while always remaining true to the metal genre. Examples of this include “El Fruto Prohibido” and “Me Encontró Tu Amor”—songs with strong modern influences yet centered on the core of traditional Metal, something Atrios Of God never strayed from.

Furthermore, Atrios Of God has a long history in the underground scene, having performed live on numerous occasions, with highlights including shows alongside bands of the caliber of Rata Blanca, Boanerges, and Barni—not to mention their streaming performance during the 2020 pandemic. We spoke with Javier Diaz, the band’s guitarist, and he confirmed that, for the time being, Atrios Of God has gone on an indefinite hiatus. Since the release of their latest EP, “Mundos Internos”, the band has imposed a self-imposed silence that, for now, remains in effect—though no one knows how long it will last. The possibility that Atrios Of God will return to the scene remains open—and maybe, why not one more battle?
For now, there are no plans for the band to perform live again, at least not in the short term. It’s possible that in the future we might hear a new song or single from Atrios Of God, but for the moment, nothing is certain. The truth is that the band is still going strong, and despite the hiatus, we can still hope for something new—perhaps by 2027—and let’s hope that’s the case. If there’s one thing the scene needs, it’s bands that are clear and forceful, with the vitality and presence that Atrios Of God has always demonstrated.

In any case, Atrios Of God has material circulating digitally. Both their self-titled debut album and the EP “Mundos Internos” are available in that format. That’s why we’ve included below the official music video shot for the song “Sueños De Libertad”—a track from their debut album—as well as the full livestream that Atrios Of God performed in 2020.
Of course, as is our custom, we’re sharing the band’s social media handles so you can stay up to date on any news and show your support—as befits all our hard-working local bands…
