Jonathan Johnson, Former Member of Sacred Warrior, Unveils New Project | Glory Of Kings Releases “The Mystery”
Jonathan Johnson is well known in the scene not only for having been the guitarist for the legendary band Sacred Warrior, but also for his involvement in other projects throughout his career, such as Denny The Fallen, Goodman, and his collaboration with Testimony Of Apocalypse. Now it’s time to unveil what promises to be a project focused on Classic and Progressive Metal, with a modern production.
Glory Of Kings is his new project, through which he is preparing what will be his debut album, under the Roxx Productions and No Dust Records labels. The album’s title will be “Roots Of The Past,” and “The Mystery” is the first single from this debut album.
Glory of Kings is an emerging force in the heavy music scene, known for blending crushing instrumentation with cinematic storytelling. With a growing fanbase and a commitment to authenticity, the band continues to push creative boundaries while honoring the roots of the genre.

“The Mystery” is the first track Glory of Kings released as a lead single from their debut album. It serves as a track that shows us the direction the band is heading in. In the vein of Queensrÿche, we find an impressive song that leans toward progressive and melodic metal, featuring stunning vocals and driving guitars, along with striking viola melodies and excellent arrangements—all within a conceptual and epic framework that’s truly compelling.
Glory Of Kings is a project featuring Jonathan Johnson on guitar and Erik Schelling, both formerly of Sacred Warrior. Joining them on drums is Michael Feighan, known for his work with Whitecross, Bloodgood, Guardian, and others. The rest of the lineup has not yet been announced, but even with the information we’ve provided, we can see the direction the project is taking and appreciate the professionalism and track record of the members of Glory Of Kings.
“This album represents where we come from and what shaped us,” the band shares. “It’s about confronting history and understanding how it echoes into everything we create today.”
Reportedly, some of the songs were originally composed with the hope of being included on a new, unreleased Sacred Warrior album, since Jonathan Johnson—a founding member of Glory of Kings—was an active member of that band, as was Erik Schelling; however, those songs will now be part of “Roots Of The Past”, the album the band has announced.
The album will be released on CD and LP via Roxx Records, and will also be released in Europe in those formats through No Dust Records—which is no small detail.
No release date has been announced yet, but it will likely be sometime in 2026. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait for further announcements and possibly a new single.
