Former Seventh Avenue and Current Avantasia Member Drops New Track | Herbie Langhans Releases “Little Lights”
Herbie Langhans seems determined to explore his “solo” side further following his departure from Firewind, even as he remains a steady presence with Avantasia. He had already surprised us some time ago with the social media release of the track “Glow,” a melodic hard rock song bearing the unmistakable stamp of the ’80s, and now he’s back at it again with the release of a new track. In this case, we’re talking about “Little Lights,” a track that Herbie himself has defined as “Langhans-Metal,” given its difficulty in being pinned down to any specific metal subgenre.
Indeed, this new single stands apart from his previous release, “Glow,” opting for a sound and feel much closer to Langhans’ history with metal, while still masterfully handling the melody and tempo of a mid-tempo track that defies precise categorization. Even so, “Little Lights” retains that unmistakable connection to metal, which comes naturally to Langhans.

“Little Lights” continues this series of new tracks that the former Seventh Avenue member has been releasing for some time now. Could he be working on a full-length solo album? In fact, a while back in an interview with this site, Langhans himself had said about his sudden solo career that “…for the first time, I’m going to release solo songs, and of course, there will be more.” Because of all the touring in recent years, I really missed being creative and writing songs. Now I’m starting to do everything myself (all the instruments). For now, there’s no album planned, just singles for streaming, but we’ll see…”
This flurry of activity from the former Seventh Avenue member may come as a surprise, but it isn’t entirely unexpected. And regarding the band we first knew him with—and the possibility of a reunion—he didn’t rule it out: “I don’t know yet… I never say never, but for now there are no plans. There were some offers, but who knows ;-)…,” was his cryptic response, which leaves many questions open for the future.

The reissue of “Between The Worlds,” perhaps Seventh Avenue’s best album, on vinyl and, of course, on CD, opens the door to speculation. Will Seventh Avenue make a comeback? Who knows….the important thing is that Herbie Langhans is still active and releasing high-quality music. Not only did “Glow” make an impact, but now he’s also surprising us with “Little Lights”…which you can listen to via the link below…
