Everything related to criminal law is extremely interesting to me, especially when combined with Metal music. Aside from my profession (which no one is really interested in), the important thing is that Hidekel has just released a new music video, and of course, we couldn’t let it pass us by.
“Testigo Falso” is the reason for this premiere. A music video that the Ecuadorian band Hidekel has just released. This production delves into the band’s conceptual line, inspired by the book of Proverbs 6:16, and addresses one of the most severely criticized offenses in the biblical text: false testimony.

The music video in question is a large-scale production, in which we can see the band playing and interacting with black and white colors, with a matching aesthetic and lyrics that stray from stereotypes, combining an excellent theme with thoughtful lyrics. The song in question, with its symphonic and classical tone, stands out from the compositional style common in the genre, with a great video clip that lives up to Hidekel’s intentions.
The lyrics of “Testigo Falso,” composed by vocalist Belén Castillo, develop the seriousness of perjury throughout the biblical story. In the Old Testament, under the Law of Retaliation, anyone who bore false witness had to face the same punishment they tried to impose, reaffirming the principle of proportional justice. However, the work is not limited to retributive logic. In its conclusion, it introduces a significant transition: from the Law of Retaliation to the Law of Love. The Latin phrase —“Lex talionis in oblivione, lex amoris est praesens”— suggests that justice is no longer based solely on punishment, but on a deeper transformation where truth prevails as a higher principle.

Musically, the composition —by Gabriel Caicedo, the band’s keyboardist— marks a new direction in Hidekel’s catalog. The song is written in 6/8 time, an unusual meter in traditional power metal, which is generally structured in 4/4. This choice gives a feeling of continuous forward movement.
The video clip in question was directed by Fabián Mendoza ‘Faar’ through the production company Criteria Films, consolidating a dramatic aesthetic that accompanies this new creative stage of the band.
For those who don’t know, Hidekel is a band that has been struggling for 15 years, releasing several demos and an album in 2016 entitled “XII Puertas.” In addition, they have been releasing and publishing several singles, including “Testigo Falso,” the subject of the recently released video clip.
Hidekel has a long history, having opened for bands of the caliber of Tierra Santa, Tren Loco, Malón, Epica, Antidemon, etc.

Musically, Hidekel moves within the parameters of Symphonic and Progressive Power Metal, demonstrating a quality that is on par with the greats of the genre. Their evolution through their early demos, through the album “XII Puertas,” to their latest productions, among which we highlight “Corazón Inicuo,” “Ojos Altivos,” and “Prestos Del Mal,” shows us Hidekel’s creative maturity and a state of health as a band that deserves an album with a production that lives up to what they have been doing.

Below, we leave you with the video clip in question and, of course, the coordinates to find these brothers of Metal from Ecuador, so you can support them, follow them, and find out all the latest news about the band…
