Michael Sweet’s solo career is where he allows himself to step outside of Stryper and explore other types of music and sounds. In fact, Michael is leaving Stryper behind for a moment and turning his attention back to his other side, something he has been doing for many years, with “The Master Plan” being his eleventh album.
Through the Frontiers Music label (the same label that releases Stryper’s albums), Michael Sweet announced the release of “The Master Plan” for April 3, 2026, releasing the single “The Master Plan” as a preview, which can already be heard on digital platforms.

“The Master Plan,” Michael Sweet’s most personal and spiritually resonant solo album to date, is scheduled for release on April 3, 2026, through Frontiers Music Srl. This deeply worship-inspired album is a bold departure from his previous solo work, combining sincere devotion with fresh musical textures and a melodic depth unlike anything SWEET has done before.
Regarding this new album, Michael Sweet stated, I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted to make this record. I think I subconsciously started making it when I was a kid. All the music that has influenced me over the years is revealing itself on this album. It’s certainly not cookie cutter by any stretch of the imagination. It’s one of a kind and very eclectic and unique, but that’s exactly what I wanted. It has something for everyone and I hope you all are as excited about this one as I am. The title track is quite a song musically and lyrically. The goal is to inspire and encourage and give people hope. I hope this one does just that. I want to personally thank you all for your patience and for your undying support for everything that I do. Much love to you all.

Thanks to the kindness of the folks at Frontiers Music, we had the chance to listen to this new album in its entirety, so here’s what it’s all about and what we can expect when the album is released.
“The Master Plan” contains 10 tracks, including, of course, the title track, which is also the lead single and the opening song. There is an undeniable scent of ’80s rock/pop that permeates the entire album, and following that same logic, we find “Lord,” a pleasant, light ballad with a slight ‘gospel’ feel to it. “Stronger” is not far behind, and through its rhythm, it takes us to a different world than the one Michael Sweet has accustomed us to with Stryper. On the other hand, “Eternally” is the typical pompous slow song that could not be missing from a work like this, and which looks set to be another of the album’s possible singles.
“You Lead I’ll Follow” is certainly not a song that Stryper would do, but Michael Sweet allows himself the luxury of going down a different path and ventures into a song with hints of 80s pop and a sound that takes him away from heavy metal for a moment. I liked “Desert Stream,” a ballad heavily influenced by country music, with that “road trip” vibe that makes it essential for accompanying a long journey behind the wheel of a nice car, but there’s also time for something more rock/blues-oriented with “Believer.”
Things calm down with “Again,” another slow song that Michael Sweet performs masterfully, and where his impressive vocal range shines as always. Next we find another ballad, “Faith,” with a very ’70s sound, and finally, the album closes with “Worship You,” a light and catchy rock song.

Basically, “The Master Plan” is a collection of songs that would surely not fit on a Stryper album, highlighting that the sound is mainly based on keyboards and the continuous strumming of acoustic guitars as a foundation. The tracks included are really enjoyable. Yes, we won’t find anything related to heavy metal here, but we greatly appreciate that Michael Sweet dared to do something different from what we are used to with Stryper.
In our opinion, the commitment to doing something different has had a positive result. First of all, because the songs on “The Master Plan” are enjoyable, entertaining, and direct. Also because the sound is simple but effective, and definitely, at this point, Michael Sweet can do whatever he wants with his voice. This is one of the main reasons why “The Master Plan” is such an enjoyable album, if you can look at his music from another angle, allowing Michael to step outside his “normality” with Stryper and venture into other territory.
“The Master Plan” will be available starting April 3, 2026, and in the meantime, we leave you below not only Michael Sweet’s social media accounts but also this preview video that was released as a preview of this new album…
