Bombs Come…Bombs Go, And 2026 Is Already Here…
Okay, welcome 2026. What a thing; a new year and a new life, they say. Impressive? Not really, but here we are. Standing tall and ready to continue fighting whatever the new year throws at us.
It seems that 2026 greeted us with more violence, more fanaticism, and more distortion than ever before. In this context, the bombs seem to want to put things in order.
We come from a difficult and strange 2025, in which everything was an uphill battle for many. Economy, work, family, and various aspects of life that undermine dreams and hopes. And no, we’re not going to talk about politics (nothing worse than partisan politics), but it’s undeniable that politics continues to be disgusting, giving more power to those who already have more power, and the usual suspects applauding everything like happy little monkeys. The richest continue to get richer, and the poorest continue to get poorer.
That is the sad reality that many choose to deny, but that is the truth. We also had a strange 2025. I say strange because I never cease to be surprised by the changes in values and principles. All in the name of justifying the unjustifiable. Everything is distorted, everything. Meanwhile, those who own the game propose rules that represent oppression and things of the past. And everything is fine, no one protests, no one says anything.
The system in which we live is like that. The alternatives are various forms of nonsense that, in most cases, include various paranoias that discuss stupidities, instead of questioning the system itself, its distorted values and principles.
What will 2026 bring us? More of the same, surely, or perhaps worse. It’s not that I’m pessimistic. It’s the reality we have to live with these days. What remains is to resist or rust. That’s what it’s all about.
Clinging to faith is not an option. I would say it is almost an obligation in these times. We are not talking about religion or inventing strange beliefs. We’re talking about faith in Christ, in God. There is something beyond our earthly life, and in the here and now. It’s not the magic solution to problems proposed by televangelists. No. It’s knowing that with Christ, things are different. You can live differently, you can face life, problems, battles, from another perspective.
Personally, it was a tough, difficult year. The loss of a family member is not something that can be recovered. All that remains is the comfort of God and the strength He gives us to move forward. Wounded, but not defeated.
When we set out to get this website back up and running, we knew it was going to be difficult. In fact, we are in the most difficult part of the Metal scene, which is spreading music with Christian content. We only have the support of God, the people (counted on the fingers of one hand) who collaborate with us, the people who follow and support us, and bands, labels, management, etc. who give us a hand, since the reality is that what we do is not for profit but rather for loss, as we always say.
The most important thing is who reads us, who follows us, and who gives us the opportunity to establish that editor-reader communication, something that has been lost in recent years. For us, that’s the most important part. We devote a lot of our time to writing, preparing content, notes, reviews, etc., but we always wanted to do something more than just “copy and paste.” Anyone can do that. No, we prefer to do something different, at the risk of making mistakes and spelling errors, writing errors, etc. As we always say, we stick with the old style of fanzines from before, even though I’ve had several people advise me to make internet videos, streaming, and other such things. No, that’s not what we like. We’re old school, and we’re not budging from that.
We have several projects for this year. We’ll see if we can make them happen and turn them into reality. In the meantime, we’ll continue to bother you with this website, to which we dedicate several hours of our lives every day, as well as a large financial investment, without any support whatsoever. There are several things going around in our minds and thoughts, and only God knows if they will come to fruition or not. We’ll see…
We’ve just had a few days of well-deserved rest, so we’re quite behind with the material. As always, we have several articles, news items, and reviews to publish. Always supporting the Metal scene, as always…We’ll continue reading next month, and in the meantime, read, comment, share, and spread the word. It helps us a lot to spread the word about Del Otro Lado. May God and Metal continue to bless you.
