Kicking Off The Month of September | Don’t Give Up!!!!
Once, in an old interview, Alberto Zamarbide, known for lending his voice to legends such as V8 and Logos, now Primal, said that V8’s central message was “Don’t give up! He who has ears, let him hear; he who has eyes, let him see” (Metalica Zine no. 44 – 2004), and a few days before Zamarbide himself commemorates, in some shows he is preparing, the 40th anniversary of a fundamental V8 album, “Un Paso Más En La Batalla” (One More Step in the Battle), it seemed ideal to begin this little reflection or editorial note, as it best suits this, with an iconic image of V8. Clearly, that phrase has been on my mind lately, as I have unfortunately had to go through some very sad times, with the loss of family members and everything that entails. Well, no, I’m not going to give up. We have to keep going, for those who are no longer here, for those who are by my side (especially my life partner), and for everything that God will bring from here on out. I think that’s what it’s all about, never giving up. If God sustained me in my worst moments, why should I give up the daily fight? And I’m not referring to the work involved in running this webzine, but to life itself, which sometimes seems to be cruel to us and make everything more difficult. Sometimes you proclaim yourself a “Metal warrior from here or there,” but how many times do you find yourself crying alone so that no one sees you because you can’t take it anymore? Over time, I have discovered that it’s not about putting on a tough front in front of others, but about weathering the storms, learning to trust in God, and knowing that no matter what happens, He has good plans for each of us, not evil ones. It’s not consolation, it’s trust in what God has in store for each of us. You don’t go through life banging your head against the wall all the time, you have to know that. That’s why there’s no choice but to get up and keep going, even if it means crawling, but never stopping or going backwards!!!!
We’ve reached the sixth month with this webzine dedicated to metal, and although things sometimes cost us twice or three times as much, we continue to publish interviews (this past month it was Jason, who are back, something really worth noting), album reviews (in physical format, as you know, we still refuse to go digital), news, and introducing some bands that are taking their first steps, such as Opresor, from the southern part of Buenos Aires, our friends from Free (an excellent Hard Rock band), No More Death from Brazil, who are promoting their first album (review coming soon), among other news.
For this month of September, we have some changes, or rather some “additions.” First, we are going to start interviewing people or personalities from the metal scene who, without being musicians, contribute their grain of sand to the scene, and we don’t want to miss the opportunity to get to know these warriors who, from their place, contribute their share. This section will be called “People of Steel.” Secondly, we decided to open a section in the webzine where we will rescue old editions of former fanzines in PDF format so that those who did not have the opportunity to read or own them can at least learn about various historical zines that were published with great effort. A kind of archaeology that I believe will be useful for remembering old times and also, incidentally, for realizing that sometimes great things can be done with minimal resources. It will be called “Ancient Codices” (no, they are not written in hieroglyphics or ancient Greek), and it is a way of delving a little into our recent past.
Logically, and as you can imagine, we have several interviews in the works, which will be published during the month of September. There are several albums to review, and we always like to emphasize this, with the CD in hand. We don’t like having to listen to an album in digital format. Don’t give me any of that nonsense, because it’s never going to be the same. We respect those who only release on digital platforms (and in fact we still promote that material), but metal is meant to leave its mark in a physical way.
Thank you to everyone who follows us month after month, day after day, and to everyone who in one way or another supports this project. Special thanks to our brothers in Santa Fe (Naldo Brizuela and family, Panky and José Ceballos from El Templo Del Metal); And to the owls who not only contribute nothing, but are dedicated to destroying what little there is, yes, we will continue to promote not only Heavy Metal as such, but all subgenres such as Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, etc., whether you like it or not….
Always stand firm together with Metal, remember, DON’T GIVE UP! and Long Live Heavy Metal!!!!
