The Facedown Records label sends us, in digital format we clarify, this new album from the band Bloodlines although in reality, more than a full-length, it would come to be an EP, which was titled “Holiness Cries”. According to their press release, Bloodlines is a band from the sunny shores of the Gulf Coast of Texas, U.S.A., and is emerging as a formidable force in the realm of modern core music. Drawing inspiration from genre titans such as For Today, Impending Doom and Convictions, this four-piece group delivers a relentlessly passionate sound.
In 2021, Bloodlines released their debut LP HEVEL, an album that immediately carved a niche in the metalcore scene. HEVEL was written to address the seasons of life, with the band drawing inspiration from the biblical book of Ecclesiastes. The album leans heavily on classic metalcore with a distinctly progressive edge.
Now, in 2024, Bloodlines returns with their long-awaited second album, Holiness Cries. With this new offering, the band dives deeper into their signature sound, exploring themes of redemption, faith and human struggle with unflinching honesty. Holiness Cries promises to be a testament to the band’s evolution both musically and spiritually, showcasing their growth while staying true to their core beliefs.

We had the opportunity to listen to this new work, which has only 5 tracks, making a kind of contact with this stuff, even if only digitally, which impedes us to make a complete review as we like. Anyway, we find that “Holiness Cries” has a great production from the sound, sounding really very good. As for the songs included, we find a Metalcore more inclined to the old and defunct? “Nü Metal” than something heavier. Quite a bit lighter than we could expect, although of course, there is nothing written about tastes. Guttural vocals and clean vocals are intermingled between banging and banging sound guitar, with light melodies and a semi-drilled march that never ends up accelerating, with more rapping and hardcore vocals than anything else. We’re not really convinced, especially because we think we’ve already heard it over and over again. The keyboards and synthesizers in the background that serve as a kind of buffer, at least gives a little more originality to the whole thing and an appropriate atmosphere for Bloodlines’ proposal.
