“Shades of Existence” Will Be Their New EP | Forsaken Eternity’s New Release Is Coming
The Portland, Oregon-based band has just announced its new release, which will be a new EP titled “Shades of Existence.” Although it features only four tracks, it serves as a follow-up to their album “Kingdom of Ice,” which remains their only full-length album to date. Even so, Forsaken Eternity is determined not to fall behind and is preparing to release their new EP, which will be available starting September 25, 2006, via Rottweiler Records.
“Shades Of Existence” delves deeper into the unique style that Forsaken Eternity has been developing. It’s a combination of classical music and elements of power metal, with a focus on death metal and extreme sounds—a strange mix, to say the least, but one that Forsaken Eternity strives to perfect, and which is showcased in this new material with four new tracks.
Since the release of A Kingdom Of Ice the core members of Forsaken Eternity have remained united, multi-instrumentalist Vladislav Gayko and vocalist/lyricist Nathan Mote and they are now ready to reveal the next chapter in the unfolding tale of Forsaken Eternity. With the assistance of drummer Pierce Williams and returning keyboard player Brian Rush, both ex-members of Death Metal behemoth Skeletal Remains, Gayko and Mote have crafted a new voyage into the unknown, a new rush of atmospheric, melodic Death Metal steeped in symphonic might…Shades Of Existence!
“Adrift In A Twisted Ethereal” opens with a symphonic, classical intro that quickly accelerates into a fully atmospheric and orchestral piece that never lets up, featuring varied vocal tones and excellent guitar work, before flowing into “Whispers From The Moon”, an even more classical track with orchestral keyboards accompanying the fast-paced rhythms and basslines.
At this point, the idea of incorporating classical music into Death Metal tones—and even elements of Black Metal—while combining them with violent blast beats and guttural vocals, is the defining characteristic of Forsaken Eternity. That’s why “Celestial Witch” comes as no surprise; it also features that unmistakable connection to power metal and classic metal, but in an extreme vein.
The final track is perhaps the strangest and most experimental piece. It’s no coincidence that it bears the album’s title. “Shades Of Existence” is a clearly introspective, atmospheric track, with orchestral sounds in the background and a sort of rumbling in the background, no vocals of any kind, and a horror-movie vibe that permeates the atmosphere.
When they began working on “Shades Of Existence,” Forsaken Eternity committed to ensuring the new riffs would be of the highest quality, that they would maintain the technical level demonstrated on “A Kingdom Of Ice” without sacrificing even a hint of melody, and that they would surpass their previous achievements… and they have kept their word.
This new EP from Forsaken Eternity builds upon what the band had previously shown, expands their style with four new songs, and maintains their presence on the scene. Perhaps, following this highly anticipated release, it will be time for a new full-length album, but in the meantime, Forsaken Eternity keeps us entertained with “Shades Of Existence”, a new EP worth checking out…
