More Rot With “Martyrdomical Symphonanthem,” Their New Album | Vomitorial Corpulence Is Back
The rottenest band of the ’90s is back, and this time with a new album that promises much more grindcore—the genre for which Vomitorial Corpulence is known—in an album that features no less than 40 tracks!!!! It’s absolute madness.
“Martyrdomical Symphonanthem” is the new release with which Vomitorial Corpulence promises to once again wipe out anything resembling musical gentleness. Its official release is scheduled for October 6, 2026, via Rottweiler Records.
To provide a bit of background, the entity known as Vomitorial Corpulence was spawned in the underground music scene of Melbourne, Australia at the dawn of the 1990s. The band was featured on the influential The Extreme Truth – Australian Metal Compilation III in 1995 and released their shocking debut album, Skin Stripper in 1998. In his Encyclopaedia of Australian Heavy Metal tome Brian Giffin describes Skin Stripper as “sheer grind chaos” and there’s no doubting the seismic impact that the album had on Australian goregrind and grindcore. While guitarist Paul Green remained a constant presence at the heart of Vomitorial Corpulence, the band’s history is a turbulent one, involving lineup, label and continent changes and their next release didn’t appear until 2006. Karrionic Hacktician was comprised of the tracks that appeared on the …Extreme Truth… compilation, along with some bonus material and remains highly regarded to this day. After contributing fourteen blistering tracks to the 6-Way Sin Decomposition compilation album in 2007, also featuring the likes of Demonic Dismemberment and Eternal Mystery, Vomitorial Corpulence slipped into what appeared to be its final slumber.
But in June of this year, the surprise came in the form of the single “Beastial Devourment,” with which Vomitorial Corpulence demonstrated its vitality with new material. This track serves as the spearhead for what this new album will be, set to be released by Rottweiler Records on October 6, 2026.
What can we expect from this new album? As always, Paul Green, the band’s longtime mastermind, handles all vocals and instruments, but beyond that, Martyrdomical Symphonanthem offers a sound that’s clearly rooted in old-school grindcore but with a fresh approach in terms of both sound and technique. Nothing to be afraid of. Vomitorial Corpulence stays true to the style they’re already known for.
“Martyrdomical Symphonanthem” features 40 tracks, which generally average between 1 and 2 minutes in length, including “Saint Eulalia Dissected And Boiled Alive” and “Isaiah Sawn In Twain,” among others, packed with all the fury the band is known for—crushing riffs and relentless blast beats— but also featuring interesting guitar passages that orchestrate Vomitorial Corpulence’s sound. “Saint Bartholomew The Apostle Flayed Alive” is another good example of this.
It’s not all high speed and relentless decay. There are elements that go beyond grindcore as we know it. “Barnabas Dragged & Burned” is a good example of this, and there are others where the groove makes its presence felt, such as in “Saint Margaret Clitherow Squashed To Death.” Obviously, we have the tremendous “Beastial Devourment,” released as the lead single from this new album, as well as “Hanging Martyrs,” another tremendous, raw display of power.
There’s also room for some hardcore influence on tracks like “Treacherous Degenerational Sodomaniac Antipathy Of Depravity,” or a hint of thrash in the riffs on songs like “Brutal Storing Death Execution” or “Gallows Of Glory”—and why not a few bouncy riffs on “Bedtrack Torture Dismemberment”?
Tracks like “Poena Cullei” showcase a much more modern approach, without sacrificing the brutality for which Vomitorial Corpulence is known. In fact, the heavy pounding and cutting riffs make their presence felt on “Martyrgoreical Barbaric Slaughter,” which we could note as the standout track on the album.
We also find “Jeremiah Stoned To Death,” which has a much more classic sound, as does “Martyrium Sanctorum,” which, by the way, adds a lot of groove to the mix. The closing track, “Splatterdom,” is a fitting finale, with all the rot and power we can imagine.
“Martyrdomical Symphonanthem” is not just that. There’s much more to discover. Imagine that with 40 tracks, there’s plenty to unpack, but that will be material to reveal and analyze once the album is officially released.
This new album marks the return of Vomitorial Corpulence, a highly respected name in goregrind and grindcore circles; however, it is not simply a rehash of the band’s previous work. Paul Green, the band’s leading figure, has matched the adrenaline and speed of the band’s previous achievements, but has surpassed them in terms of composition, individual performance, the atmosphere evoked, and an intensity that makes your teeth grind.
