“Metal” Mike Cook Reveals His New Project | Iron Faith Debuts
Okay, maybe many of you don’t remember or even know who Mike Cook is, better known in the glam metal scene as Metal Mike, a wonderful character who has been promoting the ’80s metal scene for years through his podcast. On top of that, he is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter with his own project called Metalkast, with which he released an album in 2025.
Well, it seems that for 2026, “Metal” Mike is preparing a new project, which he has called Iron Faith, focused on Christian content in his lyrics, and for which he is preparing an EP, which will be his absolute debut.
Roxx Records (who else?) will release the band’s self-titled debut EP, with five tracks, and it is scheduled for worldwide release in the spring of 2026.
The press release informs us that after a successful tour of the metal circuit during the 1990s, Mike Cook stepped away from the stage to focus on his family. However, music never left him. After his stint in 2025 with the ’80s-inspired hair metal project METALKÄST, Cook felt a deep calling to fuse his spiritual convictions with the relentless power of traditional heavy metal.
Iron Faith is the result of that calling, a project that balances “forceful” sonic aggression with faith-based lyrical depth.
Iron Faith is the ultimate expression of “Metal” Mike Cook’s musical and spiritual journey. Combining the force of ’90s metal with the soaring melodies of the genre’s golden age, Iron Faith is a testament to the idea that true passion, and true faith, never rust.
To realize this vision, Cook recruited an elite group of talents to ensure the EP had maximum impact: the rhythmic engine is powered by drummer Devin James, and the EP features an explosive rotating cast of lead guitarists, including Trevor DeTalente, Sean Senhenn, Gabriel Skyline, and Jarred Zorzy, each of whom brings a unique touch of virtuosity to the songs.
This EP will feature five tracks, two of which—“Moral Massacre” and “Refuge”—are already available on social media and will be included on Iron Faith’s debut album. These tracks give us a taste of what this new project is all about. What we hear in these songs is traditional, hard-hitting ’80s Heavy Metal, packed with riffs and raw power. Two absolute bangers that remind us that True Metal will never die!!!!
