No More Death: The Death Is Dead | Sheer Thrash Attack
(2025 – No More Death)
If you’re looking for virtuosity, melodies, multiple instruments, musical finesse, and so on, this isn’t the place for you. No More Death is quite the opposite, or almost, because it comes with its own thing. A project focused on the purest Thrash Metal possible, without any additives or ingredients. That’s what this album titled “The Death Is Dead” is all about.
It can be said that Thrash Metal has its history. A journey through the Metal scene that comes from afar, from the now distant decade of the ’80s (the most fruitful era of music in all genres), and that is why No More Death proposes to take us on a trip back to the beginnings and roots of Thrash Metal, as it was conceived and popularized at the time.
No More Death is the new project by Tiago Torres, former guitarist and vocalist of the Brazilian band Mad Dragzter, which released three high-caliber albums between 2001 and 2015. Now it is the turn of this new project, releasing its first album entitled “The Death Is Dead” completely independently.

In this work, Tiago Torres becomes the main actor and part of the whole. This is because he not only provides his voice and guitar, but is also the one behind the entire sound orchestration of the album, with the participation of Demis Kohler in the production. An almost one-man album, although of course, No More Death will at some point take to the stage to play live and will surely become a band. In the meantime, “The Death Is Dead” is the first step in a project that is making its mark in the world of Thrash Metal.
Rough, fast, and with all the ingredients that a band of this genre is supposed to have. That’s No More Death. The influence of the San Francisco Bay Area bands of the ’80s is undeniable, although Tiago Torres adds his own personality, imbued with the style that Brazil has given to the genre. You could even say that it sounds like a tribute to old-school Thrash Metal. There are no ballads or songs that lower the tone. “The Death Is Dead” is pure intensity from the first song to the last.
The first track, which gives the album its title, is a first-rate attack, followed by “Thy Glory,” with its display of heavy guitars and a fierce base reminiscent of old Metallica and a touch of Testament. The choruses are melodic and a real find in material of this style. “Great White Throne” features a much more elaborate structure of riffs and bass lines, with a guitar solo that simply blows your mind.
The riffs on “Forever Young” are somewhat reminiscent of Megadeth/Metallica and make it one of the best and most entertaining tracks on the album. The fast-paced barrage continues in “Sons Of Light,” a kind of intense, emotionally charged thrash anthem, while “Annihilated” follows the same vein in another display of speed, fury, and super heavy riffs.
There is a slight slowdown in “Dreams About Eternity.” At half speed, steady, constant, and with a lot of grinding, No More Death offers its most melodic side here, if we can consider a piece that never loses its force, dry and cutting as any other, to be melodic.
“Love Is Immortal,” the last track, has an intro more typical of traditional metal, but No More Death goes for more and delivers one last bit of its material. More grinding, more violent riffs, and metal anthem-style choruses that suit No More Death’s music very well.
The Christian lyrics revolve around themes that are sufficiently eschatological and apocalyptic to be in tune with the thrash sound that No More Death proposes. In that sense, the message fits perfectly with the band’s sound and the fury spread throughout each track.
The album’s production is modest enough, considering that it is a totally independent production. The cover, with a skeleton on a white background of a coffin, may be shocking to some hysterical people who always have something to say, but for us it is perfect. The physical album also contains the lyrics of the songs (sung in English) but at the same time translated into Portuguese, which is no small detail.

In addition to its availability in physical format, this album has a digital version in the main formats of its kind, which in our humble opinion will never reach the quality that only the physical format can provide.
No More Death offers nothing but pure Old School Thrash Metal. Here you won’t find any crossover or musical subtleties. The resulting sound is also in line with the proposal: overloaded guitars, lots of crushing and heavy riffs, percussion with almost imperceptible bass lines that reinforce the foundation of the sound, plus Tiago’s voice, which, without being rotten or guttural, is sufficiently fierce and rough, achieving a rather classic sound for the genre. It is more than clear that the intention is not to offer a modern product or flirt with the new trends in metal, but simply to express the fury and force that only thrash metal can offer. Tiago Torres and No More Death know a lot about that, and that’s what they’re aiming for, no more, no less.
Of course, as always, we leave you with the contact details for this Metal warrior, Tiago Torres, and his project No More Death, recommending that you follow him on social media to find out the latest news and also how to get hold of this stuff.
