We’d already been sharing some updates about No More Death, the project by Tiago Torres, formerly of Mad Dragzter, and so, after a few delays, “Last Caesar” is finally available—a new display of pure old-school Thrash Metal that weaves an intriguing narrative into each of its nine tracks, one that ties into the themes of their previous album, “The Death Is Dead.”
Fresh off its release, “Last Caesar” offers a different perspective from what No More Death presented on their debut album, “The Death Is Dead.” We had the opportunity to listen to it in its entirety thanks to the kindness of Tiago Torres, and from a first listen, we can conclude that “Last Caesar” feels somewhat different—much deeper and more introspective than the previous album—though it always remains true to the essence of Thrash Metal.

The new album continues the conceptual approach that defined the debut and expands on a story about humanity’s fate, faith, destruction, and the prospect of a new existence. With a more aggressive, darker, and more technical sound, the record promises to take listeners on an intense journey through time toward the final years of the human age.
While “The Death Is Dead” explores the beginning of the ages and humanity itself, “Last Caesar” dives into its final chapter, marked by domination, persecution, and collapse. The story follows the rise of a usurping leader who establishes a new world order and wins the devotion of billions of people, while a small part of the population refuses to submit to his authority. The concept combines elements of dystopian fiction, religious references, and end-times themes, taking the lyrical approach introduced on the project’s debut even further.
Previously, Tiago Torres had told us the following about this new release: “…Once again, we’ve returned to No More Death’s signature style when it comes to playing Thrash Metal. But, without a doubt, this new album is different. The first album was direct, dense, and relentless! This new album is more musical, technical, with lots of nuances and passages. Plus, we’ve dared to try new things on some songs. Even something that almost borders on a ballad. Without a doubt, a huge step forward for the band!”, he told us a few months ago.

Musically, “Last Caesar” takes an even heavier and more intense approach, with razor-sharp riffs, speed, technical passages, and dark atmospheres. The influences of Slayer, Testament, and Exodus remain, but they are woven into the identity developed by Tiago Torres. The album also leaves room for unexpected elements, including the possibility of a heavy ballad.
Each of the tracks explores a different chapter of the album’s conceptual storyline.
Thus, from beginning to end, we encounter different parts of the same story, told through each track on “Last Caesar.” Below is a brief lyrical description of each track to help understand the narrative introduced in this album by No More Death.
I – Last Caesar: The final years of this age. Decisive years for the planet, the universe, and the human race. As prophesied thousands of years ago, the greatest world leader of all time emerges: the usurper. He establishes his new order. Seduced by his power, charisma, and miracles, the vast majority of the world’s population worships him and gives itself over to him completely. But a small portion of humanity refuses to surrender and will therefore be hunted down and killed.
II – Apostasy: Seduced by the Emperor, billions of people abandon their faith and blindly follow the new leader. These former companions and brothers become traitors, informants, and persecutors. With this great transformation, life on Earth changes, revolving around the great leader and his worldwide empire.
III – Fake Peace: The world is at peace. A false peace. The Emperor guarantees a minimum income for all billions of people. He has “set them free,” and they worship him. Everyone celebrates and is happy. But they have no idea that great destruction is on its way. When they least expect it, the true Emperor of the universe will arrive to set things right.
IV – Merchants Of Faith: Corrupt religious leaders sell their faith, rob their followers, invent religions, and create doctrines. In the end times, under the rule of the empire, their numbers will multiply.
V – 2077: 2077 AD. The resistance goes into hiding and runs from the Emperor. Very few have survived. Technology makes life and survival difficult for the rebels. Any mistake could mean capture and death. But they remain steadfast in their faith and convictions. They await the great sign in the sky, the arrival of the true Emperor, and the resurrection of all the dead.
VI – Coach From Hell: The agents of the empire of darkness deceive billions of people. A practice that has gained ground in our time will become a deadly virus in the end times. Guided by the Emperor and his father, these liars put the world under their spell.
VII – Ear With An Awl: A declaration of love and loyalty from the resistance and the surviving rebels to the true Emperor, who will return.
VIII – Pride, Destruction, Extinction: The return of the true Emperor of the universe. Upon his arrival, he destroys the usurping emperor, his father, and his worshippers, sets the universe in order, and prepares the way for the new creation, eternal and immortal.

“Last Caesar” represents an interesting evolution from the sound No More Death presented on their debut album, with much greater emphasis on the conceptual aspect and a seamless lyrical and musical cohesion among each of the album’s eight tracks. To the core thrash metal concept established on “The Death Is Dead”, one could say that “Last Caesar” adds technical and progressive elements, resulting in an album that, upon first listen, stands out as exceptionally compelling.
As with the debut album, “Last Caesar” was co-produced by Demis Kohler, who handled sound engineering, tones, mixing, and mastering, as well as recording all the guitar solos. The cover artwork was created by Jean Michel of DSNS Art, who has previously worked with artists such as Metal Church, Queensrÿche, and Michael Sweet.
A former founding member, guitarist, and vocalist of Mad Dragzter, with whom he released three albums between 2003 and 2015, Tiago Torres remains focused on songwriting and studio production while keeping the door open for future live performances. With “Last Caesar”, he expands the narrative universe introduced in “The Death Is Dead” and reinforces his vision of building a connected discography in which each album represents a new chapter in an ongoing story.

“Last Caesar” is available on digital platforms. The physical CD will be released independently in Brazil and simultaneously in the United States and the rest of the world through ROXX Records. A post-release music video for the title track, “Last Caesar”, is also planned
