V.I.L. Presents “Opresor” | Pure Brutality From Rosario, Argentina
Extreme Metal also has its place in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. More precisely in Rosario, where V.I.L. emerges with its battle cry; its new and first independent production entitled “Opresor,” which was recorded in 2025.
Crossing Thrash with Death Metal, V.I.L. moves in a rotten, fast, and furious terrain. With a trio lineup, the band achieves a powerful sound with interesting songs. I was really surprised by the clean, clear, and deep sound they achieve. Simple and direct could be the best definition.

“Opresor” lasts just over 26 minutes in its entirety, but in such a short time, V.I.L. manages to pack in eight tracks of surprising quality. Straight to the point, you could say. With influences ranging from Death to Slayer, Mortification, and even a certain closeness to Hermética’s stripped-down approach, V.I.L. draws on a wide range of Extreme Metal. The result is a gratuitous display of brutality that undoubtedly breaks heads.
From the first track, “Grito De Guerra,” V.I.L.’s approach is clear. As we said, it basically moves within the parameters of thrash/death metal, with some traces of vernacular Heavy Metal, as can be heard in “Mentes Enfermas.”
“Mi Lugar” is another display of brutality, as is “Reacción Convicción,” which leans more toward Death Metal but with obvious thrash influences, a common theme in almost all of V.I.L.’s sound. “Buscando La Verdad” is perhaps the most versatile version of V.I.L., with a foundation centered on Thrash Metal but with interesting riffs, strums, and guitar solos that elevate the band’s sound.
With “Religión,” V.I.L. spits out a truth that many don’t seem to understand, all with an unmistakable 100 percent thrash sound, as in “Terror Terror,” where the bases and riffs take us to the Bay Area sound of the old days of the ’80s. The album closes with the self-referential “Valor Identidad Libertad (V.I.L.)”, in case anyone had any doubts about the meaning of the band’s name.

V.I.L. is formed by Elias “Negro” Cano on lead vocals and bass, Pablo ‘Loky’ Gonzales on drums, and Diego “Colo” Barrera on guitar and backing vocals, known for having been a member of Inhumation and Endless Sacrifice, local bands from Rosario, and for being a necessary participant in Antidemon’s visits to the province of Santa Fe. Yes, with only three guys, V.I.L. are capable of achieving an overwhelming and powerful sound in each of their songs. The album was recorded between the home studio “Colo Noise” and drums at “Oz Estudio” in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. Mixed and mastered by Cristian “Mono” Dalessandro, the sound achieved is truly remarkable. Powerful, but clear and simple enough. A remarkable combo.

V.I.L.’s greatest virtue is making the difficult simple, without resorting to the modern twists that extreme music sometimes proposes, which can be difficult to understand due to their enormous complexity. V.I.L.’s combination of Death/Thrash is effective enough to blow minds and achieve a great production, of high quality and promising much for the future of V.I.L.
To find these good guys on the internet, here are their social media coordinates, and as is our custom, something from “Opresor,” in this case the song “Mentes Enfermas”….
