“The Silver Cord Is Severed” Is the New Release from the Brazilians | Sabbatariam Releases Mortification Cover
The Brazilian band Sabbatariam has just broken its recording silence by releasing a digital version of its cover of “The Silver Cord Is Severed” by Mortification, a legendary band if ever there was one, in a cover that is even heavier than the original version.
As Mortification fans, we can say that this version honors the legacy of one of the greatest bands in the White Metal underground, which is largely unrecognized, so it’s good to remember Mortification and their important legacy.
According to the band, the idea came about as a tribute to both Steve Rowe and the work of Mortification, both of which have been major influences on Sabbatariam. Daniel Martins from Soul Factor (another historic band that has also been a major influence on Sabbatariam) and Isaque Soares from Krig on bass participated as guests in the production of this cover. Marcão Werneck and Gui Santos (who also handled the mixing and mastering) played guitar, and Fabio Araujo played drums.
With this release, Sabbatariam returns to the scene after at least four years without a new release. The last we heard from the band was the EP released for Sabbatariam’s 20th anniversary in 2021 (aptly titled “20 Years”).
Sabbatariam has an extensive history in the Brazilian Death Metal scene. The band, which has been around since 2001, has released several albums, including the EP “From Dust To Dust” in 2007, and the albums “The Valley Of The Shadows” in 2012 and “From Abandonment To Salvation” in 2014.
Their Death Metal style brings the band closer to a subgenre within the genre, particularly technical and even progressive, without neglecting the fury and power that characterize the extreme.
We hope that this new release will be the kickoff for new material from Sabbatariam, a band with a long history in Death Metal.
