“Refined By The Flames” Is Its New EP | Becoming Sons Unveils Its New Work
Something unusual seems to be happening with Becoming Sons, a band from San Antonio, Texas, USA. Their style is close to current metalcore but with other elements that take them into other territories. They define themselves best as a “MetalPraiseCore” band, a label of their own creation, which may help to understand them better.
Becoming Sons is a Christian metal band formed by five members in 2015. Their unique style is based on a characteristic sound that they themselves have called “MetalPraiseCore,” combining metalcore, thrash, and melodic hooks with spiritual themes of hope and redemption. Their name is inspired by the Bible, more precisely by the passage from Romans 8:12-14, reflecting their focus on spiritual transformation. Becoming Sons aims to be a “message of hope for the desperate” through high-energy live performances that often include audience participation.
In 2020, their single “Illuminate” reached No. 1 on the Loud CMW (Christian Music Weekly) charts for 16 consecutive weeks. Their latest releases include the songs ‘Awakened’ (early 2024), “Dead Church” (October 2024), and a metal version of the song “Hark! The Herald Angels Scream” for the 2024/2025 Christmas season, which also reached number 1 on the CMW chart for 5 consecutive months and was the number 1 song on the CMW charts for 2 weeks in January 2025.
Becoming Sons have just released a new single entitled “Hidden Truth,” as a preview of their new EP entitled “Refined by the Flames,” scheduled for release on March 13, 2026, through Roxx Records.
In “Hidden Truth” we find a powerful and heavy sound, which in a way reminds us a little of Slipknot and early Demon Hunter. Guttural and clean vocals are combined, with a style that is perhaps a little different from what we currently find on the Metalcore scene. Refined By The Flames will be released in March through Roxx Records, and once we have it in our hands, we promise a full review of the work, in our usual style.
