From the Province of Santa Fe, This is Latinos y Metálicos | Heavy Metal Always Following the Same Path
Shouting truths under the powerful sound of Heavy Metal is something that has been lost over time. Metal with content has given way to proposals that revolve around issues that have nothing to do with the true spirit of Heavy Metal.
From the Argentine province of Santa Fe, Latinos y Metálicos aims to rescue what Metal is, with a proposal based on the old school and an interesting combination of Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal, with a clear and forceful message. Rebellious, social, with lyrics that make you think. That is what stands out most in the songs that make up this production. The band consists of Alejandro Andelique Lopez (Panky) on bass and vocals, Roberto Oviedo on guitar, and Juan Manuel Escudero on drums.

“Por El Mismo Camino” is their second and latest independent production, which was recorded during 2020/21 and released in 2022. It is available to listen to in digital format, and its main feature is that it has a “Heavy” side and a ‘Metal’ side, very “old school.” “We want to make a third album, maybe during the summer of next year we’ll start little by little,” said Alejandro Andelique, better known as “Panky,” bassist and vocalist for Latinos y Metálicos, about the band’s next steps.
Latinos y Metálicos saw the light of day in 2012. According to “Panky,” the meaning and reason behind the name has to do with the fact that it was the title of the first compilation album of bands from all over Latin America. Bands from Mexico, Spain, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, etc. This work compiled pioneering metal bands from each of these countries. With Latinos y Metálicos, the band’s aim is to pay tribute to those pioneering bands that fought through dark times in Latin American history, including covers of those groups in their own repertoire.
So it’s no surprise that the first track on the album, “Por El Mismo Camino,” is “Alma Del Viento” by the Peruvian band El Viejo, but we also find their own versions of the songs “El Temor” by the Chilean band Panzer, “Falsos Profetas (a esos)” by the Argentine band Nepal, and “Inocente… Hasta Que Se Demuestre Lo Contrario“ by the Uruguayan band Alvacast. It’s a great way to pay tribute to and remember the beginnings of heavy metal in Latin America, ending the album with a cover of Gary Moore’s ”End Of The World,“ but in the Spanish version by the Chilean band Tumulto under the title ”El Final.”
But Latinos y Metálicos isn’t just about covers. The band includes high-caliber original songs such as “No Naciste Para Ser Víctima,” “Dividen Y Reinan,” and “Totalitarismo Financiero,” songs with a strong social message.

The album features several guest musicians, such as Soledad Baez on vocals, Nicolas Lopez on guitar, Ruben Rivero on guitar, Miguel Angelini on vocals, Samuel Gomez on guitar, etc. For the band, the idea is “…to always play with friends, which is why we always invite people to record or play live.” On the other hand, Latinos y Metálicos’ goal has nothing to do with the usual path of any band. “We’re not interested in touring and stuff like that. I’ve already lived everything I had to live with music. The vibe is always about sharing, leaving a message,” says Panky.
Returning to “Por El Mismo Camino,” we can see that Latinos y Metálicos plays classic and traditional heavy metal, with a certain thrash metal influence in its overall structure, which is basically simple and modest but with tremendous fury. It’s a way of rescuing and remembering that Metal is mainly about strength, feeling, passion, and message.
The intriguing cover is a painting by artist Juan Arancio, a native of Santa Fe, like the band. The album was recorded at Deep Wave Records and released by Pollution Records.
This album is available for digital listening, so we’ll leave the links below because I assure you, it’s worth a listen. Those who truly love metal will feel right at home with this album by Latinos y Metálicos, I can assure you.
