We gave it some thought and decided it would be a good idea to take a look at the bands that currently have only one album released—at least as of the date of this publication. That’s why we chose ten bands from the White Metal scene that are currently active and have only one album to their credit, leaving out those that are inactive for whatever reason.
The list may be a bit arbitrary, but we based it on the physical copies we have on hand; otherwise, we’d also have to include bands that have released albums digitally, which would make the list endless.
We’ve also left out EPs and demos; we’re focusing solely on the debut album—in this case, from each of the selected bands. By the way, we’ve also highlighted what we consider to be the standout track from each album.
The idea is to pay attention to what’s new, to what’s starting to gain traction. The debut album is always the one that, over time, we may come to value the most, but which we might not pay as much attention to at the time. This is a good starting point to begin doing so—and why not start with these ten albums by the ten bands we’ve selected—to pay attention, and perhaps even more…

Silence The Echo: Liberation (2026)

Silence The Echo is a Finnish band founded in 2022 by vocalist Katja Stefanovic and songwriter Jani Stefanovic (formerly of Solution .45 and Miseration). The lineup was completed in 2024 with guitarist Teemu Rautiainen (formerly of One Morning Left), drummer Nikke Karaksela (formerly of Frail and Ocean Dark), and bassist Tommi Huuskonen (Ocean Dark).
“Liberation” embodies the fusion of Symphonic Metal and modern Metal better than anyone else. With this album, Silence The Echo focuses on contemporary Metal sounds, featuring dense foundations, incredibly heavy riffs, deep, overdriven tones, and precision as sharp as an atomic clock.
Silence The Echo’s greatest strength lies in its ability to distill the current variations and trends in Metal into a single album, featuring a powerful foundation and a vocalist with immense presence and style.
Album highlight: “Light Eternal.”

Royal Altar: Warrior’s Dance (2024)

Stand up, everyone! Before us stands one of the bands that most faithfully embodies Traditional and Epic Heavy Metal. Hailing from Greece, Royal Altar is a band that centers its sound on the most classic elements of Epic Metal—not from the perspective of typical European-style Power Metal, but rather drawing its roots from bands like Manilla Road, Manowar, Virgin Steel, Iron Maiden, and others. On their only album to date, “Warrior’s Dance”, the band delivers a collection of strong, powerful songs, with that war-hymn vibe that strikes a chord deep within any self-respecting metalhead.
Clearly, Royal Altar isn’t the epitome of modern metal, but they keep the eternal flame of fierce and combative Heavy Metal burning. “Warrior’s Dance” is an album well worth checking out.
Album track: “Heavy Metal.”

Zebulon: Come Day Of Reckoning (2024)

If anyone thought that Doom Metal was dead or had already been consigned to oblivion, I recommend checking out “Come Day Of Reckoning,” the first—and so far only—album by the Norwegian band Zebulon, a group that does things the old-fashioned way, without technology or modern trends. Just guitars, bass, and drums with twisted riffs that take us back to the golden age of Doom/Stoner, evoking the glory days of bands like Trouble, Solitude Aeturnus, or Candlemass. Even so, their unique personality sets them apart from any comparison. Their most distinctive features are the heavy, at times groovy, guitars; long, dense tempos; and a vocal style that’s distinctly their own. “Come Day Of Reckoning” evokes the old, heavy, and dark, and is one of their most resonant characteristics.
Album track: “Day Of Wrath.”

Opus Irae: Into The Endless Night (2024)

Possibly one of the finest works in contemporary Black Metal (or “Unblack Metal”, as many prefer to call it). With “Into The Endless Night”, Opus Irae achieved a clear demonstration of just how symphonic even the most extreme variant of Metal can become. “Into The Endless Night” is essentially a collection of operatic, symphonic songs, brimming with diverse moments and atmospheres, blending all these elements within the Black Metal spectrum to a level of excellence that is hard to match. Orchestral and powerful, with guttural and operatic vocals, listening to “Into The Endless Night” is an epic invitation to one of the most awe-inspiring variants of Black Metal, and they are clearly one of the most promising bands for the future.
Album track: “The Burden Of Man.”

Shamash: Done With Misery (Nos Pergamos In Domine Saluteum) (2024)

Hailing from Malaysia, Shamash is a rather unique band—you never know what they’ll come up with next. “Done with Misery (Nos Pergamos in Domine Saluteum)”, their only album and the best example of what we’re talking about, is a record that never quite decides which direction the band is heading, though one could clearly say it’s a clash between modern Metalcore and Death Metal with more anachronistic elements, so to speak. But the influences don’t end there—we can hear elements of Groove, Thrash, and more. The album itself is pure chaos, yet it works—and might even appeal to those most resistant to the current Metal scene. Shamash are just a trio, but even so, with this album they’re making enough noise to warrant being taken seriously.
Album track: “Done With Misery.”

Angel Distress: Ligna In Inani (2025)

Their Doom Metal/Death Metal approach may not be the most original out there, but the Brazilian band Angel Distress takes us on a journey deep into the ’90s (the genre’s golden age) with “Ligna In Inani”, while updating the sound and the formula itself—resulting in a profound and nuanced album well worth a listen. Their aesthetic blends gothic and symphonic elements, giving their style a unique fusion of genres and beautiful compositions. The songs are lengthy, the arrangements varied, and there are shifting moods even within a single track, and so on. All of this is presented within an overarching framework that oscillates between the powerful guttural vocals of Charles Douglas and the angelic vocals of Daniela Alvares, complemented by a powerful orchestral and musical foundation that truly shines and evokes a wide range of emotions. As a side note, Angel Distress spent three long years recording and producing “Ligna In Inani”, an album that’s truly worth its weight in gold.
Album track: “Embraced To The Thoughts”

Martin Simson’s Destroyer Of Death: Eternal Reign (2023)

How about bringing together several prominent musicians and top-tier vocalists to shape a marvelous work of Progressive and Technical Metal? That’s what this project by Martin Simson is all about—a master of the bass who set out to bring this project and vision to life, featuring varied and highly technical compositions that blend Melodic and Progressive Power Metal with elements drawn from Hard Rock and even A.O.R. Rob Rock, Jorn Lande, Rex Carroll, Anders Johansson, Carljohann Grimmark, and Andy Kollerfors are all part of the project and this album in particular. What stands out most about “Eternal Reign” is its variety, the quality of each composition, and a superb production that makes this album a must-listen—and has us eagerly anticipating what’s next from Martin Simson.
Track from the album: “Master Of All.”

Azaryahu: Seed Ov God (2022/24)

This project, formed by one member of Slechtvalk and another from Cerimonial Sacred, shows a lot of promise. It’s raw Black Metal, but perhaps with a more symphonic approach. Azaryahu’s music could be described as Symphonic Black Metal, given that “Seed Ov God” seems to revolve around songs and themes rich in melody and harmony, with compositions that oscillate between a dark atmosphere, the spiritual, and the introspective. The combination of symphonic and epic elements—and even passages that are hard to describe—brings a musical richness unthinkable for the genre. The result is a kind of apocalyptic and spiritual atmosphere conveyed through the most extreme elements Black Metal has to offer.
Album track: “In Thy Light.”

No More Death: The Death Is Dead (2025)

Old-school Thrash Metal finds its reason for being in “The Death Is Dead”, the only album to date by No More Death, a project by Tiago Torres, formerly of Mad Dragzter—an influential Brazilian band—who now aims to explore the “Bay Area”-style Thrash, and under that influence, they take us on a one-way journey through the raw and furious sound of early Thrash Metal, with a more-than-obvious Brazilian touch in its roots. That’s what “The Death Is Dead” is all about—an album recommended for lovers of the classic “Bay Area” sound, who’ll find in No More Death a great excuse to refresh their sound and style.
Album Track: “Forever Young.”

Hope Deferred: Darkness Remains (2025)

Hope Deferred bases its sound on what could be called Deathcore, or that lethal combination of the most visceral Death Metal with the modern trends of Metalcore. The result can be heard on “Darkness Remains”, their only album to date, in which Hope Deferred develops its own version of Death Metal, taking elements from Metalcore and incorporating them into its music—not the other way around. This is no small detail, especially to avoid thinking we’re hearing the same old thing. We’re talking about a band that makes the brutality of Extreme Metal its core and foundation, with a certain lean toward a more modern sound.
Album track: “Brethren Of Blood.”

It doesn’t hurt to cover some current releases. As we always say, we respect the legends and great albums of the past, but that doesn’t mean we should overlook what’s playing today—the up-and-coming bands fighting for a place in the scene. While the list may seem a bit arbitrary, the truth is that these are ten bands that, as of this writing, have released only a single album or full-length record—and we’ll likely be hearing more from them in the coming years….
