Holy Name is an American project, which is formed by Tommy Green, on vocals, and Joe Holt, on guitars. Both as a duo, they formed this band, called “Holy Name”, releasing an eponymous album in 2023, through the label Facedown Records, who kindly passed us to give us a listen to this material in digital format, so we will review it in general. The music on “Holy Name” is marked, in general terms, in the Metalcore genre, but intertwined with melodies reminiscent of church music, resulting in mid-tempo songs, with a very particular atmosphere that invites reflection, prayer or meditation, depending on the taste of each listener. It has 12 songs and was recorded with the contribution of several well-known people of the scene; it has a very good sound, powerful and direct. I am not a fan of the genre, but I found more than interesting the experiment of the cross between melodic Metalcore and more “church” music. A new genre is born? Would it be appropriate to call it “Churchcore”? We’ll see. By the way, the band is promoting a latest production entitled “Rock Against Traffic – Live In Pomona”, recorded as the title says, live at a show against human trafficking. Regarding this new album, the band bases its release on the fact that “There is still a lot to do. Many people are still victims of trafficking. Many survivors have nowhere to go and no way to heal from the twisted reality they escaped. They need a voice. That’s why this exists. That’s why Rock Against Traffic exists. Let’s hear it for this initiative.
Logically, you can stop by the band’s social networks and digital media to hear and discover more from Holy Name, or simply log on to https://facedownrecords.com or https://www.youtube.com/user/FacedownRecords.
