Nouns have that undeniable ability to label people, to endow them with a personality, and also to define their essence in relation to others—and to ourselves. It is perhaps a way of characterizing someone based on the connotation that accompanies that noun.
And we humans are very prone to throwing around nouns—and consequently adjectives as well—often in a negative or pejorative way.
Nouns serve, in a sense, to name someone, something, places, ideas, and so on; but they’re often used to differentiate—and not in the best way.
Being a Christian or a metalhead are nouns that, in particular, define a specific person with all that this implies. For some, these are two things that don’t mix—like oil and water; in other words, you can’t be a metalhead and a Christian at the same time. Well, to be honest, we really don’t care about that.
Being a Heavy Metal fan and a Christian is part of our identity, whether or not those terms carry negative connotations. We are Christians; we identify as such, but in the same way that we are also metalheads—and part of the identity that defines Metal. That’s why we don’t like being categorized. We’re not the type to draw a line between those who adhere to Christianity and those who don’t, and that’s why we don’t put up with others drawing that line either.
Whether people like it or not, we follow Christ and Heavy Metal, no matter what anyone thinks, and as part of our very essence, we believe in Metal brotherhood—and that’s why we don’t play the game of creating divisions. Everyone chooses what they believe in—and what they don’t. It’s part of free will, and mind you, being a Christian isn’t the same as religion—and in that regard, they’re two totally opposite things. That there are people who turn Christianity or any other belief into a religion is one thing; it’s quite another to believe in God and live up to what’s preached—which doesn’t usually happen with people who make religiosity a lifestyle that doesn’t match their actions. There’s a big gap between saying and doing, as people say.
We’ve chosen to create a space to showcase Metal bands that don’t usually get coverage in the Metal media, because what’s commonly referred to as “White Metal” or “Christian Metal” is, at its core, entirely underground—aside from a few rare cases where artists are treated like Hollywood stars, yet their music remains within the Metal niche; in short, it’s not mainstream.
If there’s one thing that sets the Metal scene apart, it’s that it’s always been underground, and “White Metal” has followed that logic and pattern over the years—with the added challenge that it receives virtually no coverage in the media. So here we are, spreading the word about what no one else is hearing and choosing the hardest path!
But that’s not all. Since we believe in the brotherhood of Metal, we’ve also created this space for national bands, regardless of whether or not they believe in God. We think it’s important to showcase what we have in Argentina—bands that have been fighting the good fight for years with very few resources. That’s the Argentine spirit! Yes, the spirit—because everything you see and read here is the result of hard work, time taken away from family and daily responsibilities, and funding from our own pockets to keep this webzine going—all with virtually no support from anyone. Complaints? Not at all! We do what we love; it’s our passion, and it’s what we believe in!!!
That’s why, in addition to being Christian and Heavy, we’re also extreme. We don’t make—nor do we intend to make—any financial profit from this, since, thank God, we have our own livelihoods to support us. Nor are we interested in being “influencers” or whatever they’re called. We’re only interested in sharing and publishing everything that is our passion and what we believe in—but doing so from Latin America, and specifically from Argentina like us, is what makes us extreme. And boy, do we live life to the extreme here—always on the edge!!! Everything is done with hard work, a lot of guts, and determination!!! That’s what extreme resilience is all about!!!
Another month has passed, and a new one begins. August brings its own challenges, and in the meantime, we’re moving forward with many more reviews, interviews, news, etc., and we’re starting to prepare a new project that, God willing, we’ll be unveiling soon. In the meantime, keep supporting us, follow us on social media, comment, share, etc. We have nothing but the support of God and of you, our loyal readers!!!!! A big shout-out to those who follow us!!!! You mean the world to us!!!!
We’ll read each other next month…. Long live Heavy Metal and the true warriors of Metal!!!!!
