(2023 – Icarus Music)

With this phrase, expressed in this album recorded live in 2023 at Niceto Club, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Renacer ends one era, to begin another. Basically because of the farewell that marks this work of its historical vocalist, Christian Bertoncelli, who took advantage of this show and especially this live album, to put the bow on his work in front of Renacer. Decisions aside, waiting for what is going to happen in definitive with the band, the course that will follow and some next material in studio in this new process, is that we have this live album as the last official release of the band in physical format.

It is not the first time that Renacer releases a live album (in 2011 they released “Bienvenidos Al Show”) although of course, the realities of the band were quite different. In this case we have a good selection of songs, representing a kind of summary of the history that Renacer marked for more than 20 years, since the setlist includes songs from each stage of the band. Thus, among others, “Cenizas Del Alma”, “Bienvenidos Al Show”, “Entre La Gloria o La Traición”, “La Verdad De La Mentira”, etc., make up a list with powerful songs that cannot be missing in a live album of Renacer. There are also songs from the band’s latest studio work, such as “Ojos de Agua” or “Viejo Roble”, among others. There is also an excellent version of “Tu Eres Su Seguridad” by Hermética. In total we have about 16 tracks, taking advantage almost to the maximum of the duration of a compact disc.
It is inevitable to listen to this album with a touch of nostalgia, both for those good times of Renacer and for the idea that I believe that with the passage of time, this album will be seen as a portrait of a band that knew (and knows, mind you, because the band is still going on) how to combine the sound and strength of the most hard-hitting Heavy Metal with the melody of Power Metal. What direction the band will take from here on, is a mystery to be honest. At the time of writing these lines, the band has taken some time off according to what they posted on their social networks. We will wait to see what ultimately happens with Renacer.
In the inevitable comparison, we notice in this case a Renacer sounding better than ever, much tighter and with a Juan Pablo Kilberg making his guitar vibrate like never before. A great success his return to the band. In fact, the combination of his solos and Bertoncelli’s strong vocals are Renacer’s trademark. The rest of the band delivers in a very good way, achieving a great live sound. The editing, post production and mixing work yields very good results, far superior to the previous “Bienvenidos Al Show”, taking into account that it is not easy to combine a live album, capturing the essence of the real and faithful sound of the band on stage combined with the ambient sound of the audience.

The album cover features the great phoenix among the fire, characteristic symbol of Renacer, with a great design by Christian Bertoncelli himself. The inner envelope of the album contains photographs of the band members, captured live, and not much else, since as usual in live albums, the lyrics of the songs are not added.
Listening to “Fuego Vivo En Bs As” over and over again leaves the feeling that it is really a pity that Renacer will not have Bertoncelli’s vocals again. Not only is he the one who has always fronted the band, but his characteristic voice has always been one of the band’s trademarks. It only remains to wait to see what happens with the band in the future and their new directions. Meanwhile, “Fuego Vivo En Bs As” implies nostalgia, an approach to Renacer’s most interesting material or simply a before and after.
