You’ve probably already heard of them. If not, let us tell you that Death Protocol is a project born in Southern California, USA, founded by vocalist David Priest and bassist David Estrada, who have already released two singles in 2025: “Times Change Truth Does Not” and “Demonic Onslaught.” Now it’s time for their new release, titled “Illusion Of Faith,” which will be released under the Rotweiller Records label, just like their previous releases.

While “Times Change Truth Does Not” delivered a polished Thrash Metal track with that inevitable dose of groove that Death Protocol adds to its music, and “Demonic Onslaught” offered a mid-tempo track with plenty of groove, heavy riffs, and a nod to Death Metal, the band’s new release will be even more surprising.
“Illusion Of Faith” showcases a much more evolved Death Protocol, both in terms of composition and musical direction, presenting a sound rooted in Thrash Metal with hints of traditional Heavy Metal, while also featuring a much stronger Death Metal side—all within the same release. There’s a reason for this. This time, there are two special guests on the album. On one hand, we have the legendary Sean Peck—from Cage, Death Dealer, and The Three Tremors—contributing his signature high-pitched vocals; and on the other, the equally renowned Luke Renno, known as the vocalist for Crimson Thorn and now also for Mortification.

The result is truly a must-hear gem, where we encounter not only David Priest’s distinctive voice but also that unusual pairing of Peck’s high-pitched vocals alongside Renno’s guttural growls, in a mid-tempo track with strong, sustained, low-end rhythms, a brilliant guitar solo, and a compositional structure that’s fundamentally aggressive and in-your-face.
Essentially, “Illusion Of Faith” is a kind of Thrash/Groove with hints of Death N’Roll that intensely captures an unconventional yet energetic sound which, alongside their previous releases, is beginning to outline the direction Death Protocol is taking.
At this point, it’s clear that Death Protocol is ready for a full-length album. In addition to their digital single releases, the band is establishing itself and successfully crafting a distinctive sound that warrants the production of a full-length album.
And speaking of sound, it’s clear that “Illusion Of Faith” has a standout sound, with guitars right up front and a sufficiently heavy, overdriven foundation. The track in question was mixed and mastered by Derek Corzine at Corzine Studio in Amarillo, Texas (Frost Like Ashes, Horrid Demise, Faustian Slip, etc.).

“Illusion Of Faith” will be available on digital platforms starting June 26, and we hope Death Protocol will soon have a full-length album to release. In the meantime, here are the singles “Times Change Truth Does Not” and “Demonic Onslaught” to help you get to know Death Protocol, and of course, the social media accounts for Rottweiler Records and the band, so you can follow them and stay up to date on the latest news…
