Extol is one of the most renowned bands within the Christian metal scene in Norway. With years of experience in the scene and a rather sparse discography, the band formed by brothers Peter and Christer Espevoll, Ole Borud, and David Husvik seems determined to shape new stuff in 2026.

The last we heard from Extol was the EP released digitally in 2023, which contained the songs “Labyrinth Of Ill” and “Exigency,” breaking the recording silence the band had imposed on themselves since the release of the 2013 album “Extol.” However, what could have been a sign of a new album has been put on hold for the moment. We can also add the 2025 release of their first album (“Burial”) on vinyl for the first time, which is a noteworthy detail.
However, Extol remains active in terms of live performances. The last we heard was their performance at the “ProgPower Europe” Festival in October 2025 in the Netherlands, and they are preparing to be part of “Elements Of Rock” from March 13 to 15 at Stadthofsaal Uster, Switzerland. (Will we get to hear any new songs?) Who knows… maybe they’ll visit a certain neighboring country. For now, we won’t say anything else until it’s confirmed.

Extol has an extensive career, marked by albums that are now considered classics of technical and progressive death metal, such as 1998’s Burial and 2000’s Undeceived. Later, the band’s style would mutate into other areas, such as in 2003’s “Synergy” and the well-known “The Blueprint Dives” from 2005, but always maintaining an essence that sets them apart from the rest.
2025 marked the launch of Peter Espevoll’s side project, InTheosis, which we have discussed before and which, in short, may seem a little strange to those of us who are used to the sound of Extol. At that time, Peter himself assured us that there would be something new from Extol this year. It seems that time has come.
That’s not all. In the meantime, David Husvik joined the reborn Tourniquet in its new version, participating in the concerts that the band has been offering, and everything indicates that he will be part of the new material that is also expected from them.

Suspicions of Extol in the studio were confirmed with a mysterious post a few days ago, showing that Extol is indeed planning to release something new. The post in question showed a kind of “set list” with the titles of some songs… new ones? Among them we can find titles such as “War,” “The One And The Many,” “Death Rush,” among others, and a possible name for this future new album.
It remains to be seen what we will find. The successor to 2013’s “Extol” seems to be on its way, and while we wait for a preview, here are the two songs that, so far, are the last ones Extol has officially released…
