October is here... | Broken People…
Seven months online is no small feat. Of course, this October we continue with many more new features, news, interviews, reviews of physical albums (as appropriate), etc., all with the style and spirit that characterizes us and that we wanted to imprint on this webzine. Not better or worse, but on a different wavelength, different from what is customary. Our thing is Heavy Metal and supporting everything that has to do with Metal.
There’s a phrase that a dear friend of mine threw at me recently. “Weaving Networks,” that’s the phrase. “We have to weave networks,” he told me, referring to the idea of being able to do things together among all of us in the Metal scene, something that we also really feel is a necessity. It’s not easy because everyone has their own vision, but it’s not a bad thing to be able to share, pull in the same direction, etc. In fact, the “Radios” section was created for this purpose and with the aim of bringing together projects and media that promote the metal scene. Other sections, such as “Gente Del Acero” (Steel Brothers), follow the same philosophy, where we interview people who are not musicians but who have a lot to do with the metal scene. We also thought it would be a good idea to share our archive of old fanzines with everyone, in PDF format, to give them an idea of what the White Metal scene was like in the past. We believe that it’s not just about “networking” but also about spreading the word, encouraging other projects and media outlets to join the movement, and of course, we fully support that, just as we try to support all national bands as they deserve.
Then there are the usual suspects, those who seek to place themselves in a position to judge and destroy what little spirit many have left, believing they have the power to decide what is good and what is bad, hiding behind a keyboard. For my part, I side with the broken people, those who for many are on the “side of evil.” I will never feel comfortable with those who believe they are steadfast (they are the first to fall), who make faith a religion and who sell what they do not live. I am one of the broken people, burdened with mistakes and horrors, one of the bad people, frowned upon by others, etc. And that is where I prefer to be, “weaving networks,” sharing thousands of stories and experiences, because that is also what Heavy Metal is about, camaraderie and unity, even if we don’t all think exactly the same way. When we were doing this webzine between 2001 and 2006, there were countless radio shows, several fanzines, bands, concerts, and many people in the White Metal scene. Today, the reality is different. There are many broken people who stayed behind, leaving everything behind. I know because I was there. Today we are in the fight again, not without problems, but with a great desire to keep fighting, and as V8 says, “…and come one, come all, there is a place here, alongside the Metal brigades…”; that’s what it’s all about, weaving networks and truly fighting for Metal…here we are, stronger than ever and supporting everything that has to do with steel!!!
This October, we hope to continue with everything we usually do. We have a few albums to review (quite a few, actually), so we’ll try to take it slowly but publish everything we have here. We prefer the physical format, not only because we’re old but because we defend everything that has to do with the physical, be it cassette, CD, or vinyl. For convenience, we do our reviews in CD format, but of course we don’t like digital. First, because it sounds awful; second, because we don’t want to feed any digital companies; and third, because albums should be listened to from start to finish, with the cover art and lyrics in view. Surely there are those who prefer modernity, but that’s not the case for us. We’re old, and we know it.
We are in the process of developing a new project that will be in line with this webzine and will take us back to the old days. For now, it’s just an idea on paper. God only knows, but ideas are coming. We’ll see…
In the meantime, as always, stand together with Metal, and Long Live Heavy Metal!!!!
